Corp. Virgil Klassy is with the 83rd Division in Germany. He is interpreter for some officers most of the time. He hopes to be home by June. Klassy has been overseas for 16 months.
Pfc. Orville Anderson, Camp Custer, Michigan, is spending a 30-day furlough with his family.
Don Wittwer, Paoli, has been discharged from the Navy after three years of service. He has returned to a civilian office at Great Lakes.
Pvt. Kenneth Zweifel, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Zweifel and Sgt. Donald Knobel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Knobel, Monticello, met some time ago in Manila.

Drive Thru Pancake Breakfast

On March 20, 2021, the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary in New Glarus will be serving a drive thru breakfast! Each breakfast costs $8 and consists of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, applesauce and a beverage. The Drive Thru Pancake Breakfast will be held from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., at the Legion Hall at 1121 2nd Street, in New Glarus.

New Belleville Library and Community Center Opens

The new Belleville Public Library and Community Center at 20 S. Park Street, across from Library Park, opened on March 17, 2021. The opening is planned to be a phased opening with limits initially and visitors are asked to check the monitor in the lobby. A maximum of ten people may be in the library to pick up holds. Access will be restricted to the hallway and central portion around the circulation desk. Everyone is asked to remember to maintain physical distancing and wear a facial covering over your nose and mouth to help keep all of us healthy. Hand sanitizer will be available.

DATCP's 2020 Inspections Show Wisconsin Businesses Measure Up

According to a new report from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), confidence remains high that consumers get what they pay for at Wisconsin businesses. Throughout the year, DATCP inspectors tested product scales, registers, gas pumps, and fuel quality at stores around the state to ensure accuracy at every transaction point.

Monroe Clinic Hospice Offers Virtual Grief Support Group

Many people find it comforting to face grief with others experiencing similar challenges. To help through the journey, Monroe Clinic Hospice is holding a “Walking Through Grief” virtual education and support group.
The support group is free and open to adults over 18 who have experienced the death of someone special. A few discussion topics include: the importance of information and support as we grieve, understanding grief as a process and coping with the stress of grief.

Art Supplies Will be Available at the New Glarus Library Through April 1st

There are still art supplies for the 'Mapping Our Community' project at the New Glarus Public Library. Paint or draw a map of New Glarus and your map may be selected to hang permanently inside the new library building. The project is for all ages and all skill levels.

Belleville Girls Volleyball Wins Over New Glarus, Loses to Poynette and Fennimore

On March 2nd, the Belleville girls volleyball team hosted Poynette. Belleville lost in five sets, 25-23; 25-6; 18-25; 21-25; 17-19.
Ava Foley had 10 kills, 5 aces, and 10 digs for the Wildcats. Brooke Everson had 9 kills and 1 block. Callie Smith had 2 blocks and 5 aces. Kenna Edge had 10 assists and 11 digs. Josey Latorre had 11 assists.
Belleville next hosted New Glarus on March 4th. Belleville won in four, 25-21; 14-25; 28-26; 25-23.

Monroe-New Glarus Swim Team Falls to Edgewood

The Monroe-New Glarus swim team competed against Edgewood on March 2nd. The JV team lost to Edgewood, 25-76, while the Varsity team fell to Edgewood 39-131.
<strong>Varsity Results</strong>
The team consisting of Riley Hoesly, Karley Michels, Keeley Mulligan and Morgan Erstad finished in third place in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay with a time of 2:14.95, while the team of Taylor Rufer, Peyton Yaun, Samantha Schiro and Kendra Wenger finished in fourth place in the event with a time of 2:23.04.
