Self-Identification Required for Green County Fair Market Lambs and Market Wether Goats

Green County Fair market lambs and market wether goat exhibitors will be required to self-identify their lambs and goats using the RFID tag method this year. Exhibitors will be required to tag their own lambs and goats and do photo identification for each fair market animal. There will be no cost for the Photo Identification Kits. Exhibitors will also be given two RFID ear tags for each animal at no cost. Market lamb and wether goat photo identification kits and ear tags will only be available for pickup at the Extension Green County Office, 2841 6th Street, Monroe.

Raiders Rack Up Three More Wins

The Sugar River Raiders boys soccer team hosted Lodi on April 13th. Sugar River dominated the entire game and won, 4-1.
Ryan Downing made the first goal for the team, with assistance from Ben Lukszys, in the first period. In the second period, three more goals were scored by Breckin Faber, Ryan Downing, assisted by Gavin Boyum, and Aiden Hatleberg. Cam Kleiboer had 4 saves at GK.
On April 15th, the team played at Columbus, winning 5-1.

Zwingli UCC Serves Up Annual Kalberwurst Dinner

Saturday evening volunteers at the Zwingli UCC in Monticello had an assembly going to serve up Kalberwurst dinners. The dinner is an annual event, but this is the first time it was held as a drive through event. According to organizer Sheri Wichser, over 350 meals were served.

Twining Yields a Triplet of Wins

Monroe's Twining Park hosted Saturday's quadrangle meet. The park layout is a favorite for spectators as teams remain visible from many vantage points. Runners appreciate the smooth turf covering the rolling terrain.

Belleville Volleyball Wraps Up Season

The Belleville volleyball team played against Royall in La Crosse on Tuesday, April 13th, in a sectional semi-final match. Belleville was seeded #4 for the tournament, while Royall was seeded #1. The Lady Wildcats played their hearts out, but lost 3-1: 18-25; 13-25; 25-17; 14-25.
Ava Foley had 7 kills, 4 aces, and 21 digs, while Callie Smith had 6 kills and 4 blocks, Brooke Everson had 2 blocks, Alyssa Caskey had 1 ace, as did Mikayla Caskey, Josey Latorre had 17 assists and Mel Humke had 18 digs.

Wildcats Win Over Southwestern

On Friday, April 16th, the Belleville Wildcats hosted the Wildcats from Southwestern High School in Hazel Green. Belleville dominated the entire game, and won. The final score was Belleville 42, Southwestern 20.

Entrants Needed for 175th+1 Anniversary Parade

Would your club, organization, or entertainment group like to be a part of New Glarus history? Join the parade!
The 175th Anniversary Parade, sponsored by the Bank of New Glarus, will step off in New Glarus at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 31st. The parade route is about 2 miles long. Applications are being accepted for dignitaries, floats, and entertainment units. Floats are required to be decorated, signed, and themed to reflect one or more of the following - New Glarus, cheese, dairy, farming, or Swiss heritage.

Lions Pancake Breakfast

The Monticello Lions Club will be holding a Drive Thru Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Village Park, from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
For $5.00 you will receive 3 Pancakes, 2 Sausage Links, Applesauce, Butter and Maple Syrup. Add a boat of their famous cheese curds for just $5.00 more!
If the weather is nice, you are welcome to eat at either shelter in the park.
