Sugar River Bank Branches Change Name to The Bank of New Glarus

The Bank of New Glarus and Sugar River Bank Branches is excited to announce that the Bank’s name will be changing to “The Bank of New Glarus”, dropping the “Sugar River Bank Branches” from its name. Each existing Sugar River Bank branch will be known as The Bank of New Glarus branches.

Observing A Moment of Silence

Members of the New Glarus Area EMS participated in the COVID-19 Community Moment of Silence on Monday, May 10th, at 10:00 a.m. The moment of silence was to recognize health care workers, first responders, essential workers and others who have supported our communities throughout the pandemic, and to honor the loved ones that we have lost. Many other agencies and community members paused on Monday morning to observe the moment of silence.

More Officials, Better Fan Behavior Needed in High School Sports

After months of working with state government, education and health leaders, schools in all 50 states have been given the go-ahead to resume high school sports at some level of competition. Schools in the District of Columbia were the last to receive the green light on April 1st. This is great news and signals that a return to normalcy may be on the horizon by the time schools begin sports and activities this fall.

What is it about Cardinals? Of late this would seem to be a very good mascot to have on your helmet should you be playing football against NGM. This time it was the Cardinals of Columbus, a team that has given NGM much trouble over the past three years, that would keep this “red bird curse” alive.

Exciting Postseason for the Belleville Wildcats Cross Country Team

Both Conference and Sectional races were exciting for our team!
At the Conference Meet in Columbus, the girls did a great job - with three named to Second Team All-Conference: Alora Spiegel placed 8th, Tayler Yapp placed 11th and Lainey Winkers placed 13th. For the boys - Carter Scholey placed first and was named Runner of the Year for the alt-spring season, while Angelo Dohm and Matt Loshaw were 2nd Team All-Conference.
The Sectional race was held in Stoughton. Carter Scholey placed 4th overall, earning a spot at State on Saturday in Janesville!

Wildcats Claw Their Way to a Win Over Black River Falls

On Friday, April 23rd, the Belleville Wildcats traveled to play the Black River Falls Tigers. With a 28-7 lead at the half, the Wildcats held strong and won the game. The final score was Belleville 35, Black River Falls 7.

Monroe Clinic Offering 'Walk-In Wednesday' COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

During the month of May, Monroe Clinic is offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., in Monroe. Individuals ages 16+ are welcome and need to be able to return in three weeks for the second dose. These vaccine clinics are in addition to their standard COVID-19 vaccine clinic schedule.
Individuals age 16 and 17 will need to present a parent/guardian signed consent form or have a parent/guardian present at the time of vaccination.

Looking Back at ^News of the Men In Service^"

Norman Disch has written his parents that he is on his way to Guam with the Navy, and that he might sail for states soon. He said they have been working hard, sometimes putting in 21 hours a day. Norman sends his greetings to all his friends.
Christ A. Estervig, F 1/c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Knute Estervig, Sun Prairie, was recently honorably discharged from the Navy at San Diego, California, after about a year of service. Ten months were spent in the Japan area. He and his wife are now visiting in California.
