New Glarus and Belleville Police Depts. to Mobilize for Click It or Ticket Safety Belt Enforcement

The New Glarus and Belleville Police Departments will intensify their enforcement of the mandatory safety belt law during the annual Click It or Ticket mobilization from May 24 to June 6, which includes Memorial Day weekend. More than 300 law enforcement agencies in Wisconsin are expected to participate in this year’s Click It or Ticket, according to a joint news release from New Glarus Police Lieutenant Jeff Sturdevant and Belleville Police Chief Bill Eichelkraut.

New Glarus Bike Rodeo Held May 15, 2021

On Saturday, May 15, the New Glarus Police Department and New Glarus Chamber of Commerce held a Bike Rodeo. Kids and families could learn bike safety tips from the New Glarus Police Department, get a free helmet and t-shirt, play at the petting zoo, enter to win a new bike, and enjoy a free lunch. In the bike drawing, 17 bikes were given away.

ADRC Offers Virtual Program to Reduce Falls in Older Adults

One in four older adults has a fall each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Wisconsin leads the nation in fall-related deaths for people age 60 and older. But the good news, according to the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County, is that falls are not a normal part of aging and can be prevented. The Stepping On program, offered in Monroe by the ADRC has been researched and proven to reduce falls by 31%.

Family Promise of Green County to Hold Raffle

Family Promise of Green County celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year. The local chapter was founded in November 2011, and since that time, they have served over 300 families, a total of over 700 people, half of which have been children. Its three-tiered model seeks to “prevent” families from becoming homeless, provide “shelter” to those who need it, and empower families to independence through “stabilization.”

Deadline Approaching for Entries for the 175th+1 Anniversary Parade

Would your club, organization, or entertainment group like to be a part of New Glarus history? Join the parade!
The 175th Anniversary Parade, sponsored by the Bank of New Glarus, will step off in New Glarus at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 31st. The parade route is about 2 miles long. Applications are being accepted for dignitaries, floats, and entertainment units. Floats are required to be decorated, signed, and themed to reflect one or more of the following - New Glarus, cheese, dairy, farming, or Swiss heritage.

Professional Dairy Producers Foundation Grant Applications Deadline Approaches

Professional Dairy Producers Foundation (PDPF), also known as Dairy’s Foundation, is offering grants up to $5,000 for new or unique programs for dairy-producer-focused initiatives. The independent grant selection committee will be searching for applications that focus on raising up the next generation of dairy producers, growing and maintaining public trust in the people and products of dairy, and building the skills of our producers. Organizations with a tax status of 501(c) (3) or (5) may apply.
