Swiss UCC Raising Money to Build a Well in a Third World County

When Pat Pluss, worship leader at Swiss United Church of Christ, announced at the Bailey's Run drive-in service in early March that our church's big mission this year was to raise $15,000 to build a well in a third-world country, she already had $2,000 in donations. Since then, the Joyful Hearts Mission Committee has been hard at work recruiting walkers and donations.

Village of New Glarus Residential Clean-Up Day

Spring Clean-Up Day in the Village of New Glarus will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021. Accepted items include furniture, household trash, dry carpet (rolled and tied for one-person to handle), swing sets (dismantled), bagged box springs and mattresses, bed frames, gas grills (no tanks), charcoal grills, small lawn mowers or snow blowers (gas and oil must be removed).

Euchre at the New Glarus Legion

Open Euchre is back on Thursdays at the New Glarus Legion Home, 1121 2nd Street.
Doors open at 11:00 a.m., and a light lunch will be served. Cards start at 1:00 p.m. Open to everyone!

Donations Presented for New Glarus Bike Rodeo

The annual New Glarus Bike Rodeo will take place Saturday, May 15th. This year the Bike Rodeo will be held at Village Park and 4th Avenue from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Monticello Lions Club To Hold Classic Car Show

The Monticello Lions Club will be holding their 7th Annual Classic Car Show on Saturday, May 22, 2021, rain or shine. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors and vehicles 1995 and older are welcome.
Registration will take place from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., and is $15.00 ($5.00 for “show only” 1996 and newer). Dash plaques to the first 35 entries.
Awards will start at 3:00 p.m. Trophies will go to the top 25 cars/trucks, trophies to motorcycles/tractors, Carnie’s pick/specialty awards, participant voting. Must be present to receive award.

Mark Your Calendars - Homecoming is Back!

Monticello Homecoming is set for July 9 through July 11, 2021, so please put the dates on your calendar! The Monticello Community Club is in the planning phase, but so far it looks like we have almost a full slate for Homecoming. For the kids, the carnival will be here, the fireworks, the parade, and kiddy tractor pull. We have almost all the bands booked. Games confirmed are the softball weekend tournament, basketball, mud volleyball, canoe races, bean bag competition and tug of war. The PTO has the registration online for the Pony Trot.

Monticello Fire Department Pig Roast

The Monticello Fire Department will be holding their pig roast this year on Saturday, May 22nd, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. There will be limited seating at the fire station, or you can drive-thru or call (608) 938-4979 for delivery (during the event).
A Pork Sandwich Meal, which includes a sandwich, chips, coleslaw, a treat and a beverage, is $10.00, or you can just have a sandwich for $5.00.
Come out and have a great meal and support your local fire department!

New Glarus Area EMS to Host Blood Drive

New Glarus Area EMS, 401 3rd Street, is hosting a Community Blood Drive on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. All blood donations are now tested for COVID-19 antibodies. Please see https://www.redcrossblood.org/AntibodyTesting for more details.
The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.

Monroe Clinic & Hospital Foundation Presents ^Little Golf^" and Grill Event"

Since 1992, New Glarus businessman Hans Lenzlinger has hosted Dinner and a “Little Golf” to benefit Monroe Clinic Hospice Services. During a time when hospice services were less available, Lenzlinger saw a need and rallied the area behind this great cause to keep hospice local and loved ones at home or in the community near family.
