Wisconsin Farmers Union July Meeting

On Sunday, June 27, 2021, the South Central Chapter of the Wisconsin Farmers Union held its July meeting at Scotch Hill Farm/Innisfree Farmstay near Brodhead. It was the group’s first in-person meeting in over a year, with twenty-six members doing some long-awaited catching up and enjoying dozens of delectable homemade desserts.

DNR Following Multi-State Reports of Sick Songbirds

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is actively following incidents of bird mortalities first reported in the eastern United States in late May. At that time, wildlife managers in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky began receiving reports of sick and dying birds with eye swelling and crusty discharge, as well as neurological signs.

4-H Cloverbud Day Camp Registration Now Open

With summer in full swing, Green County 4-H is excited to offer Cloverbud Day Camp again this year. 4-H and non-4-H youth who just completed Kindergarten (5K)-2nd Grade are invited to register. Camp will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at the Kiwanis Youth Cabin, N2997 Youth Cabin Road, Monroe. Two sessions will be offered - an afternoon session from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., or an evening session from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Families can choose to sign up for the session that works best for them.

Green County 4-H Members and Volunteers to be Recognized

Recognition of effort and achievement is an essential part of the 4-H program, and plans are being made to recognize a special group this summer. The 6th annual 4-H Graduation & Recognition Ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in the Hospitality Tent at the Green County Fairgrounds.

New Glarus Woods Trail Run to Take Place in August

Join the Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park for the 2nd Annual New Glarus Wood Trail Run on Saturday, August 14, 2021. As part of the Savanna Trail Run Series, proceeds from this event go to the Friends of New Glarus Woods State Park, who are currently fundraising so they can build mountain bike trails in the park. The Friends’ aim to host a top notch trail run that highlights the park and the town. Stick around after the race for awards and other activities.

New Glarus Lions Club Chicken Barbeque

The New Glarus Lions Club will hold their annual Chicken Barbeque at the Fest Haus, 106 3rd Avenue, on Friday, July 30, 2021, serving from 4:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., rain or shine, dine-in or carry-out. There will also be an opportunity to donate used eyeglasses and hearing aids onsite.

Music In the Park

Music in the Park is back for the summer, and will be held every Tuesday evening in July, in Belleville’s Library Park from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. These concerts are presented by the Belleville Public Library. All concerts will be held rain or shine, but may be canceled or rescheduled due to severe weather. These concerts are free and feature music from a broad array of musical styles. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, a picnic dinner and enjoy the shows!
July 20: Zweifel Brothers - Polka.
July 27: Squirrel Gravy - Bluegrass.

MICHELE L. STARCZYNSKI

Michele L. Starczynski, age 41, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born on April 20, 1980, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the daughter of Dan Starczynski and Christine Sann.
Michele graduated from Belleville High School in 1998. Over the years she had worked for Bethke Plumbing and Heating, General Beverage, and Exact Sciences.

CARL R. MOLTER

Carl Raymond Molter, 85 of Belleville, WI, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Alpharetta, GA, where he had been a resident for the past four years. Carl was born in Sheboygan, WI, on November 17, 1935, to Herbert Molter and Phoebe (Meengs) Molter.

RIVER J. LEE

River J. Lee, age 26, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at his home. He was born on May 24, 1995, in Dodgeville, WI, the son of Linnea James and Troy Lee.
River graduated from New Glarus High School in 2013 and attended MATC-Milwaukee. He had worked for Exact Sciences in Madison. River was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
