ATV/UTV Use on County Highways still Prohibited

The community needs to be aware that ATV/UTV recreational operation on county trunk highways in Green County is still prohibited. At last Tuesday’s Green County Board meeting, supervisors did approve an ordinance that will allow certain county trunk highways to be ATV/UTV routes. However, there still needs to be routes established, approvals granted and signs erected, a process that could take months.
Violators could be cited for unlawful operation of an ATV on or near certain highways with a forfeiture amount of $200.50.

Village of New Glarus to Celebrate 175th+1 Anniversary

The New Glarus Chamber of Commerce and Swiss Center of North America are hosting a special weekend celebration in honor of the 175+1 anniversary of the founding of New Glarus! Originally planned for 2020, the anniversary celebrations were rescheduled to 2021 due to the pandemic. Interestingly enough, that was not the first time the anniversary had to be postponed – the centennial anniversary festivities in 1945 were also delayed a year to allow the men and women away at war to return home.

Monticello Lions Thank You

The Monticello Lions Club wishes to thank everyone who supported our food stand this past weekend, either by purchasing cheese curds, mushrooms, a sandwich or a piece of pie. We thank everyone who donated a pie or helped work the food stand. It takes many hands to run a community event and this one was very successful. We appreciate your support in any form. A large thank you to Ken Gempeler and his staff for their service to keep us supplied with product.
The weather was perfect and we are looking forward to next year.

Parade Committee Thank You

WOW! What a great weekend. We were blessed with awesome weather, and lots of smiling and happy people.
Thank you to the helpers who help to get the parade entries in place and to Joe Mellem who did the announcing on Main Street, along with Danny Klitzke who sets up the sound system for the parade, plus many other events he helps us prepare for.
