THOMAS J. JENKINS

Thomas J. Jenkins, age 57, passed away on July 13, 2021, at his home. He was born on June 23, 1964, the son of Gordon and Beverly (McGill) Jenkins, and graduated from Belleville High School in 1982.
Tom was an incredibly hard worker and loved farming on the land where he grew up. He enjoyed caring for his many farm animals, including his treasured peacocks. Tom will be remembered for his caring nature and wanting to help people in need that he met throughout his life.

New Glarus's Musical History on Stage

New Glarus has a rich history of music, and it will be on stage Friday, July 30, as the village celebrates 175+1 years of existence. Music will begin at 5:00 p.m., with the Alphorns. Entertainment continues with father/son duo Mike and David Austin. Their style of music is reminiscent of the Roger Bright Band. The Roger Bright band and members Karl Gmur and Gene Tebo played at the New Glarus Hotel on the weekends providing dancing for years. The Band played from the 1960’s through the next 40+ years.

Gov. Evers Announces Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program Payment of Internet Bills

Gov. Tony Evers has announced that the Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program (WERA), which provides rental and utility assistance to households affected by the pandemic, will begin to include coverage of internet costs for qualifying households. To date, the state program has provided more than $38 million to nearly 11,000 households and is working to distribute available funds to eligible households and individuals.

Free COVID-19 Vaccinations and Education in Twining Park

Throughout July, a collaborative community health team will be offering pop-up COVID-19 vaccine information and clinic sessions at the Twining Park and Badger State Trail Park Shelter in Monroe, at 425 14th Avenue, with the goal of providing health education and community health opportunities to Green County and local Hispanic residents. The information and clinic sessions will take place in the park shelter across from the Veracruz Mexican Market.
Dates, times, and age groups that are eligible for vaccination at the pop-up clinics: Friday, July 30, 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., 12+.

Putland to Serve as Chair of CUPA-HR's Midwest Region Board of Directors

Connie Putland, Assistant Chief Human Resources Officer at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, has been selected to serve as Chair of the Midwest Region Board of Directors of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) for the 2021-22 fiscal year. She will begin her term on July 1.
Putland has served on the Midwest Region board of directors for three years. She also served as the President and Treasurer of association’s Wisconsin Chapter.
