4-H Summer Day Camp Registration Now Open

While the traditional overnight 4-H camps at Upham Woods in Wisconsin Dells will have to wait until next year, Green County 4-H is excited to provide a fun alternative in our 4-H Summer Day Camps this year, both held in Green County.

NGM Football Celebrates Spring Season

Recently, the New Glarus-Monticello Football Team celebrated the 2021 spring season. The team finished with an overall record of 3-4/3-1 in conference play. During the Awards Ceremony, the 2020-2021 NGM seniors were recognized for their contributions to NGM Football.
In addition, there were the following award winners:
The NGM Football Team had two Honorable Mention selections from the spring season. Those players are Ben Copeland and Holden Latsch.

Green County 4-H Dairy Judging Teams Gain Experience, Knowledge

On Tuesday, June 22nd, four youth from Green County 4-H participated in the Southeast Area Animal Science Day Dairy Judging Competition at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Jefferson, WI. Prior to this event, the youth attended weekly practices held at different farms throughout Green County. At these practices, youth learned how to evaluate dairy cows and heifers. Using the PDCA (Purebred Dairy Cattle Association) Unified Scorecard, they learned to assess dairy animals based on four categories: Udder, Dairy Strength, Rear Feet and Legs, and Frame.

Public Notice for Homecoming Weekend

The Monticello Police Department would like to invite everyone to attend the Monticello Homecoming festivities on July 9-11, 2021.
We hope everyone will take the time to enjoy this wonderful family festival. We would like to remind everyone that all alcoholic beverages must be consumed within the licensed establishments and permitted areas of the park. Those found to be consuming or possession of alcohol outside of those areas will be cited for the violation(s), with a forfeiture of $ 200.50 per offense.

Monticello Foundation News

The Monticello Foundation, Inc. awarded 11 graduates of the Monticello High School Class of 2021 with $23,475 in scholarships for continuing education. These scholarships were presented at the Senior Awards Banquet held in May.

Ella Campbell, Belleville, earned Dean’s List honors at The University of Tampa for the Spring 2021 semester. Students must maintain a GPA of 3.75 or higher to be eligible for the Dean’s List.

<strong>Ross Graduates From Bradley University</strong>
Logan Ross, Albany, graduated with a BS in Computer Science Computer Game Technology from Bradley University in May. Ross was among the 1,000-plus students who earned degrees.

Col. Gilbert Strickler Discharged After Six Years of Army Service</strong>
Col. Gilbert Strickler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Strickler, has received his discharge from the Army and is home on terminal leave after almost six years of Army service. He is New Glarus’ highest ranking officer outside of Captain Walter Schindler, who is commanding a ship in the Pacific.
Strickler graduated from Ripon College in 1938, with the rank of Second Lieutenant in the reserve, having taken extensive ROTC courses while in college.
