Grand Opening at Prairie Haus

On September 16, 2021, the Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation (WHPC) hosted a Grand Opening at Prairie Haus, located on Elmer Road in New Glarus. Prairie Haus offers 40 affordable 1, 2 or 3 bedroom rental units, in an inclusive and accessible setting. Almost fully rented, Prairie Haus is home to seniors on a fixed income, young singles and couples just starting out, young families, and individuals with disabilities. The youngest residents are infants, and the oldest are in their 80s.

Students Encouraged To Apply For Wisconsin Senate Scholar Program

The Wisconsin State Senate Scholar Program is currently accepting applications from high school students aged 16 to 18. The Senate Scholar Program is a week-long educational program offered by the Wisconsin State Senate that provides high school students with a hands-on, up-close view of the Legislature’s role in our democracy. Senate Scholars will gain experience and insights of the legislative process through roundtable discussions with legislative support agency directors and staff, media, and senators.

FCC to Require 10-Digit Dialing Code for Wisconsin Residents beginning October 24th

Beginning October 24, 2021, all customers with the area codes 262, 414, 608, and 920 will need to dial the area code and telephone number in order to connect their local and long-distance calls. This will apply to all calls that are currently dialed with seven digits.

Badger State Sheriff's Association 'Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs' Program Activated

The Badger State Sheriff’s Association has activated their ‘Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs’ program to aid multiple employees of a Louisiana Parish Sheriff’s Office who lost their homes and virtually all of their personal belongings in Hurricane Ida, while they were protecting and serving their community.

The Brodhead Police Association is hosting a downtown historical walking tour with a twist: you will learn of Brodhead’s ghostly stories as well! Please join us each Friday and Saturday night in October to learn about Brodhead, both historical and spiritual.
Friday night tours are limited to 15 people, $35 per person. Saturday night tours are limited to 10 people, $45 per person; Saturday night’s tours we will be joined by paranormal team, Lost Souls in the Shadows!

Knights Lose to Waterloo

The New Glarus Lady Knights volleyball team hosted Waterloo on September 21st, losing in three, 13-25; 22-25; 19-25.
Amber Horn had 8 kills and 3 blocks, while Grace Nommensen had 6 kills, 10 assists and 9 digs, Lindsey Schadewalt had 6 kills, 9 assists and 6 digs, Veronica Tollakson had 5 aces, Carrah Bainbridge had 7 digs and Jordyn Runde had 3 kills.
New Glarus played at Cambridge on September 28th. They will host Belleville on October 5th, then play at Wisconsin Heights on October 12th and at Marshall on October 14th.
