Monticello Schools Donate Wish You Well Baskets to Family Promise

Every year the Monticello High School students donate to the Family Promise of Green County. This year we did Wish You Well Baskets. Our Wish You Well baskets consist of cleaning supplies that a family would need upon moving into new housing. The baskets included laundry soap, fabric softener, dish soap and towel, window cleaner, broom and dust pan, garbage can, bucket, trash can and bags, bleach and bathroom cleaner with a toilet brush. This was all packed into a laundry basket.

Upgrades Continue at WCG Facility

Have you noticed the industrial-scale construction development at Wisconsin Cheese Group’s northside facility in Monticello? The multi-year project is upgrading the formerly family-operated Swiss Heritage Cheese factory into a state-of-the art dairy food processing plant. Eventually, the cheesemakers will employ fifty to sixty employees and increase production of “soft” cheeses.
The site plan calls for creation of an access road just north of the building to accommodate semi-truck traffic and alleviate many present street and parking issues.

Brugger Has Pleasant Memories of Time in 4-H

Dear Editor,
It was interesting to see a recent article and picture regarding the Washington 4-H club. I was a member of the Mt. Pleasant 4-H and have many good memories of Camp Upham Woods, exhibiting at county and state fairs and attending state 4-H Club Week at Madison. I served as general leader of the Dutch Hollow 4-H when my sons were members and they still have friends made then. Times have changed, those clubs no longer exist, but the young folks, their parents and leaders still take a lot of time and effort to make this work.

Looking Back...

TO OUR READERS and FRIENDS:
The New Year is the traditional season of hope. Hope for a lasting peace. Hope for a speedy reunion with loved ones far distant. Hope for happiness and hope for health.
Each of us has a stake in this harvest of hope. How we reap will depend on how we cultivate the opportunities that lie ahead.
