WIAA Fall Team Tournament Sportsmanship Awards Selected

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, in cooperation with Rural Mutual Insurance Company, has selected the team Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2021 fall State Tournaments.
The recipients of the awards are McFarland in girls volleyball, Oostburg in boys soccer, Neenah in girls team tennis and Reedsville in football. Although there was no award recipient in boys volleyball, Kenosha Indian Trail received honorable mention.

Town of New Glarus Annual Tree Sale

The Town of New Glarus Parks Commission is once more holding its annual Tree Sale to benefit local organizations. Species available this year are American Plum, Common Ninebark, Domestic Apple, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, and White Pine, all at $4.00 each. Order forms will be mailed soon, so Town residents should be watching their mailboxes. The deadline to order is December 27, 2021.

Adventsfenster Continues Through Christmas

On December 18th, as part of Adventsfenster, the window reveal was at Dirty Dog Taphaus, on the corner of 1st Street and 6th Avenue. The New Glarus Lions Club decorated the windows, with a theme of Kindness.

Recycling Center Holiday Hours

The Village of Monticello Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday, December 25, 2021, and Saturday, January 1, 2022. It will be open its regular hours on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, and Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

^Music^" for the Holidays (and Beyond)"

Just the other day I had the opportunity to experience a beautiful rendition of <i>Handel’s “Messiah”</i>. When I think about the genius required to compose such a piece of art, I am awestruck. And to do it with a quill pen by candlelight is simply mind blowing to my 21st century thinking. Yet, it is only ink on paper, the work of one man’s hand, until it comes to full flower with the concerted effort of a choir and orchestra.

Wildcats Football Program Receives Pizza Treat

New owners of the Mount Vernon Tap, Jennie and Walter Heinrich, and staff person Hannah Donlin, delivered pizza to members of the Belleville football program to celebrate their amazing football season. The players and coaches enjoyed the pizza during the awards banquet celebration. Thank you, Jennie, Walter and Hannah, congratulations on your new business venture!

Monroe Clinic & Hospital Foundation Remembers Lois Kaster

Dear Editor,
Sadly, we say farewell to our friend and ally, Lois M. Kaster. Lois will be deeply missed by her family, her friends and by the community she loved. The Monroe Clinic & Hospital Foundation, a member of SSM Health, has benefited since our inception with both important guidance and faithful support from Lois and her husband, Ben.
On June 14, 2022, Lois will be honored at the annual hospice fundraiser, “Little Golf” and Grill held at the Chalet Landhaus in New Glarus.
