Wildcats Lose Heartbreaker to Darlington

The Belleville Wildcats boys basketball team hosted Darlington on Tuesday, December 7th. While Belleville led at the half, 35-28, Darlington mounted a comeback in the second half to win the game. The final score was Belleville 61, Darlington 63.
Leading Belleville with 14 points was Andrew Ace, while Carson Syse scored 12 points and Trevor Syse and Gavin Boyum each put 8 on the board.
The Wildcats hosted Richland Center on December 13th. They will play at Lake Mills on December 18th and host Brodhead on December 23rd.

Belleville Girls Basketball Continues Undefeated Season

On Monday, December 6th, the Wildcats hosted the Benton Zephyrs and continued to show that their hard work over the summer will help them continue to have a successful season. The team came out with great hustle and intensity and used that to build a 52-12 lead at the half. In the second half, Belleville used the opportunity with this large lead to get some of their younger players varsity experience. The final score saw the Wildcats victorious over the Zephyrs, with a final score of 72-27.

Sugar River Euchre

Red Mouse Shufflers Shane Kahl and Steve Vogt had a good night putting up 113 points to lead their team on to a 20-point win over the Norsk Cowboys. The Cowboys were down by 42 at one point, but couldn’t corral points quick enough to catch the Shufflers.

Raiders Wrestling Host Raiders Scramble

The Sugar River Raiders hosted their Raiders Scramble on December 11th. Evansville won the tournament, with 239.5 points, while Lancaster placed 2nd with 170 points, Monroe was in 3rd place with 135.5 points, Sugar River placed 4th with 126 points, Dodgeville placed 5th with 107 points, Beloit Memorial placed 6th with 48 points, and Durand/Pecatonica placed 7th with 13 points.

Glarner Knights Drop Game to Blue Devils

The New Glarus Glarner Knights varsity basketball team hosted the Lodi Blue Devils on Friday, December 10th. Only down by 3 at the half, the Knights held tough in the second half but could not outscore the Blue Devils. Lodi won, 67-59.
Jack Parman, who was 5-6 from the free throw line, led the Knights in scoring with 17 points, while Carter Siegenthaler, who made three 3-pointers, put 14 points on the board and Dain Walter and A.C. Strok both scored 8 points.

On Thursday, December 9th, the Monticello Ponies girls varsity basketball team played at Juda. Monticello was victorious, winning by a score of 41-22.

New Glarus Girls Stay Undefeated

The New Glarus girls varsity basketball team hosted Barneveld on Tuesday, December 7th. Up by 20 at the half, the Lady Knights dealt Barneveld a 60-41 loss.
“We talk about setting the tempo - and we did that tonight! Started on a 19 to 0 run to begin the game,” said Coach Kevin Parman. “The next step is to maintain our intensity for two halves.”
Lindsey Schadewalt, who was 6-6 from the free throw line for the night and had 4 3-pointers, led the team with 18 points, while Elle Lancaster scored 12 points, and Alex Atwell scored 8 points.

Monticello Boys Victorious Over Albany and Black Hawk

On December 4th, the Monticello Ponies varsity boys basketball team played Cambria-Friesland at Just-A-Game Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells. Down by only 5 at the half, the Ponies kept pressing on in the second half but just couldn’t overcome the deficit. Final score: Cambria-Friesland 48, Monticello 38.
With 11 points and 12 rebounds, Kade Ace led the Ponies in both categories, while Ryer Indergand scored 8 points and had 3 rebounds, Jackson Eyler had 7 points and 3 rebounds and Seth Culberson pulled down 3 rebounds.
