Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship

The Knights of Columbus Council 6630 would like to thank the participants in the 2022 Free Throw Championship. The contest involves shooting free throws, and boys and girls, ages 9 through 14 as of January 1st, are eligible. The winners of each category are then eligible for the next level of competition, which this year is in Sauk City. We wish the competitors the best of luck and look forward to holding this event again next year.

Ponies Remain Unbeaten in Conference

The Monticello Ponies boys varsity basketball team hosted Dodgeville on January 18th. The Ponies trailed at the half, 22-43, and while scoring improved in the second half it wasn’t enough to overcome Dodgeville. The final score was Dodgeville 79, Monticello 51.
The Dodgers took a commanding 24-9 lead in the first 10 minutes of the first half and never looked back. The second half was more of the same.
Jackson Eyler led Monticello with 15 points, while Ryer Indergand scored 12 points and had 4 rebounds and Brayden Ryan scored 9 points.

Need Help with Jobs Around the Home or Yard? NG Student Volunteers are Ready

The New Glarus High School National Honor Society website now offers a place to request free help with tasks from students in the organization. If you need help with shoveling snow, going to the grocery store, or other tasks, you can fill out an online form requesting assistance with jobs around your home.

Getting Ready for the Lake Montesian Fisheree

The Lake Montesian Fisheree will take place on Sunday, February 6, 2022, from 7:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at Lake Montesian in Monticello.
The Fisheree is sponsored by the Monticello Lions Club.
Door prize drawings will take place at 1:30 p.m., and the Grand Prize will be drawn at 2:30 p.m. There will be concessions available.

Senior Center Hopes to Reopen in February

The Sugar River Senior Center is closed to the public due to COVID numbers being so high in our area. Keeping our seniors safe is our number one priority. ROSE M. LAUFENBERG

Rose M. Laufenberg, age 82 of Oregon, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021. She was born on September 1, 1939, in the town of Montrose, Wis., the daughter of Walter and Marie (Elmer) Hoffman.
Rose graduated from Belleville High School in 1957, and married Richard (Pete) Laufenberg on April 30, 1960.
