New Glarus Agriculture Department Plant Sale

On Thursday, May 5th, and Friday, May 6th, from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m., and Saturday, May 7th, from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., the New Glarus Ag Department will be holding a plant sale at the high school, 1701 2nd Street in New Glarus.
A large variety of plants will be for sale and all funds raised support the Ag classes at New Glarus High School.

New Glarus FFA Alumni World Champion Cheese Fundraiser

The New Glarus FFA Alumni is holding a drive thru world champion cheese fundraiser on two Fridays, April 29th and May 6th. Both fundraisers will be held from 3:45 p.m.-6:30 p.m., at the New Glarus High School, 1701 2nd Street, in the south parking lot - signs will be posted to direct you and Alumni members and current FFA members will be on the sidewalk to assist you with the ordering process.

Jass Club Meets at Tofflers Pub & Grill

The newly created Glarner Jassverein is working to grow the popularity of the traditional Swiss card game Jass in New Glarus.
Jass is a trick-taking game, similar to Euchre or Sheepshead, and was once popular in Green County. Now the Glarner Jassverein is seeking new and experienced players of Jass. No experience is required, just an interest in the game.
The group meets upstairs at Tofflers Pub & Grill, 200 5th Avenue in New Glarus, every Sunday at 7:00 p.m. There is no cost, and regular attendance is not required.

Welcoming Dirty Dog Taphaus & Eatery

A Grand Opening Celebration was held for Dirty Dog Taphaus & Eatery at 101 6th Avenue in New Glarus. As part of the celebration, the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce was on hand for a ribbon cutting. Heinz Mattmann and George Albright entertained everyone with Alphorn music. Planned for later in the afternoon were performances by the Swiss Singers and Dawg Bones.

Community Kitchen Co-op Ribbon Cutting

The Community Kitchen Co-op, in concert with the Monticello Chamber of Commerce, will hold its inaugural ribbon-cutting at 4:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. The event will take place at the Co-op’s main facility, 209 N. Main Street, Monticello. Tours of the kitchen and associated event space will be given, and refreshments will be served.

Monticello Area Historical Society and Museum Open House

The Monticello Historical Society welcomes the public to the Museum's Open House on Thursday, April 28, 2022, starting at 6:30 p.m. The MAHS Museum is located at 204 N. Main Street, Monticello.
MAHS is celebrating their (2-year delayed) 25th Anniversary. The Monticello Area Historical Society was founded in 1995 by Marlene Schmalbeck. She saw the area's history being sold at auctions and garage sales, and wanted to do something to preserve local history.

If you are pursuing a career related to agriculture and are currently halfway through your coursework in college, technical school or a short course program, you are eligible to apply for a scholarship for your educational expenses through the Monticello FFA Alumni.

Lions Club Pancake Breakfast

The Monticello Lions Club will be holding a Drive Thru Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Village Park, from 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Enter the village parking lot off of Main Street onto Staedtler Avenue and continue alongside until you reach the shelter.
For $5.00 you will receive 3 Pancakes, 2 Sausage Links, Applesauce, Butter and Maple Syrup. Add a boat of their famous cheese curds for just $5.00 more! Milk and bottled water will also be available for $1.00.
If the weather is nice, you are welcome to eat at either shelter in the park.

Parents - are you talking to your children about marijuana? If so, keep talking. If not, what is stopping you from talking with your children about marijuana? Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug among adolescents. Research is showing that marijuana could affect your child’s developing brain. Also, surveys show fewer adolescents and young adults now believe marijuana can cause harm. From the 2021 Dane County Youth Assessment: “perceptions that alcohol and marijuana are safe remains high” among high school students.

BPD Participating in Drug Take Back Day

The Belleville Police Department, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will hold a Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Belleville Police Station, 61 Frederick Street, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
