Wildcats Defeat Marshall and New Glarus

The Belleville Wildcats varsity baseball team hosted Marshall on April 26th. The Wildcats quickly overtook the Cardinals and won the game 6-1.
Trevor Syse was 2x3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, while Devin Frydenlund and Carson Syse both went 1x3 at bat and each scored 1 run. Ryan Downing scored 2 runs, and Owen Stoikes scored 1 run.
Aidan Keyes and Carson Syse shared the mound for Belleville, with Syse striking out 7 and Keyes striking out 3.

Knights Ground Blue Jays and Cardinals

On April 26th, the New Glarus Glarner Knights baseball team played at Cambridge. Taking an early lead, the Knights went on to win the game, 4-1.
Brennan Butler and Easton Dreyfus were both 1x3 for New Glarus, and Ethan Friedrich and Dylan Fritz scored the other 2 runs.
Leyton Mihlbauer and Eli Zimmerman pitched for the Knights, with Mihlbauer striking out 5 and Zimmerman striking out 1.

Stewart Tunnel - Make Your Voice Heard

As many of you may know, the Stewart Tunnel has been closed for several years due to the tunnel's crumbling ceiling becoming a safety issue for users. This landmark of the Badger State Trail has drawn in walkers, bikers, and hikers from all over the state and Midwest, and its closure has been a concern of not only trail users, but local economies and businesses that benefited from traffic along the trail corridor.

After persistent advocacy by various groups, state agencies are looking for your input on the best way to reopen this segment of the Badger State Trail.

Monticello/Albany Baseball Loses Heartbreaker in Benton

The Monticello/Albany baseball team hosted Black Hawk in Monticello on April 25th and lost, 4-9. M/A was ahead until the 6th inning when Black Hawk scored twice and then six more times in the final innings to win the game.
Drew Freitag was 2x3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI, while Nick Roe was 1x2 with 1 run scored. Brayden Bakken and Andy Gertsch scored the other 2 runs.
Tyler Anderson pitched 7 innings, striking out 3, while Brayden Bakken pitched 1 inning and struck out 2.

New Glarus Good Friday Blood Drive Exceeds Goal

Dear Editor,
We would like to thank the community for their tremendous support of this year’s annual New Glarus Red Cross Good Friday Blood Drive. It was a successful drive by exceeding our goal of 58 units, with 67 units actually donated potentially helping 201 people with blood transfusion needs.

This week, May 2-6, is Teacher Appreciation Week and the Green County Child Care Network (GCCCN) would like to recognize and thank the teachers who care for and educate their students from the day they are enrolled in early care and education (as early as 2 weeks because there we are one of only seven countries in the world with zero guaranteed paid family medical leave) through the college years.

New Glarus FFA Alumni World Champion Cheese Fundraiser

The New Glarus FFA Alumni is holding a drive thru world champion cheese fundraiser on May 6th. The fundraiser will be held from 3:45 p.m.-6:30 p.m., at the New Glarus High School, 1701 2nd Street, in the south parking lot - signs will be posted to direct you and Alumni members and current FFA members will be on the sidewalk to assist you with the ordering process.
