Raiders Beat Lakeside Lutheran

On May 10th, the Sugar River Raiders varsity girls soccer team played Lakeside Lutheran and won, 5-0.
Goals were scored by Bella Brenkman on a PK, Anya Brenkman assisted by Bella Brenkman, Bella Brenkman assisted by Hannah Boldebuck, Anya Brenkman and Jenna Gentilli on a PK.
Morgan Thompson had 1 save.
On Saturday, May 14th, the Raiders held their 19th Annual Swiss Kick Quad. Sugar River played Dodgeville-Mineral Point and won 2-0.
Anya Brenkman scored a goal in the first half, while Libby Maclean assisted by Anya Brenkman scored in the second half.

New Glarus Golf Team Keeps Their Cool in Week of 90 Degree Heat

The Knights varsity golf team competed in three meets this past week. At a mini-conference meet in Lodi, Zak Arnett and Carter Siegenthaler led the team with scores of 45, Jack Douma and Ben Lukszys shot 46, and Nolan Bodenstein, 49. The Knights returned home to Edelweiss for an 18-hole invitational. Later in the week, the team finished 3rd in an invitational at Monroe Golf Club. Arnett carded an 87; Lukszys and Bodenstein shot 90; Douma, 91; and Siegenthaler, 92.

Raiders HTL Have Offensive Outburst

The Belleville Raiders Home Talent baseball team played visitor to Richland Center Sunday in the first game of the 2022 season. The Raiders, after winning the Western Section last year, got off on the right foot, winning with a score of 15-9.
Andrew Nimtz started the game pitching for the Raiders, going four innings and giving up three earned runs. Brandon Moldrem came in relief, lasting four innings, giving up one earned run. To close out the game in the 9th, Joey Mcnaught went one inning allowing no earned runs.

Wrestlers Compete in the WWF Freestyle/Greco Tournament

Recently, members from the Sugar River Raiders competed in the WWF Freestyle/Greco Tournament in Wisconsin Dells. These elite tournaments included wrestlers from youth to high school from all over the state of Wisconsin. Both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling are more international styles of wrestling. The techniques of wrestling are similar to high school wrestling (folkstyle), but the scoring procedures are different. Especially in Greco, where opponents are not allowed to touch each other's legs with their hands.

Ponies Track Competes in Darlington and Belleville

The Monticello Ponies varsity track team competed at the Redbird Invite in Darlington on Monday, May 9th. The boys team finished in 8th place, while the girls finished in 9th place.
“Hannah Clark did amazing as always!” said Kim Becker. “She took 1st in both the 200 and 400! Evan Guenther also impressed. He took 1st in both the 800 and 1600! Our boys 4x800 team took 1st.”

In the 200M Dash, Mason McCutchin placed 13th, while Ben Collins finished 17th and Tait Swanson finished 20th.

Raiders Host 25th Annual Invite

The Sugar River Raiders track team hosted their 25th annual Raider Invite on Friday, May 13th. The boys team won the invite, while the girls placed 2nd.
Boys Results
In the 100M Dash, DJ Donnell finished 5th.
In the 200M Dash, DJ Donnell finished 2nd with a PR, while DeMarcus Conner finished 5th and Alex Shrader finished 11th with a PR.
In the 400M Dash, DeMarcus Conner finished 3rd.
Bryce Babler won the 800M Run with a PR, while Matthew Loshaw finished 2nd with a PR and Aiden Campbell finished 9th.

Sugar River Bombers Win Championship at 2022 Mother's Day Bash Tournament in Beloit

The Sugar River Bombers 10U are the CHAMPIONS of the 2022 Mother's Day Bash Tournament in Beloit. These girls faced some strong competition all weekend. In pool and early bracket play the Bombers split with the Huntley (IL) Red Raiders and the Belvidere (IL) Hurricanes. However the Bomber Girls finished strong, besting the Red Raiders (6-1) in the Semi-Finals and the Canes (10-2) in the Championship Game. Not bad for their inaugural appearance. Congratulations girls!

Monticello/New Glarus Softball Defeats Belleville

On May 9th, the Monticello/New Glarus varsity softball team hosted Barneveld. M/NG was unable to get a single hit during the game, leading to their 10-0 loss.
Jaden Zuber, Kira Whisler and Tatum O’Bel pitched for Monticello/New Glarus, with O’Bel and Zuber each striking out 1.
On May 10th, M/NG played at Argyle. Once again they were held to zero hits and lost the game, 0-11.
Jaden Zuber and Tatum O’Bel pitched for the team.

Post 460 Belleville Wildcats American Legion Baseball

The 94th season of American Legion Baseball in Wisconsin starts in June.
Belleville’s June games include a DH in Watertown at Washington Park at 12:00 p.m., on June 11th; a home game on June 13th at 6:00 p.m., against Fort Atkinson; a home game DH vs Fennimore at 5:00 p.m., on June 17th; a 5:00 p.m. home game on June 20th against Marshall; a game at Beloit at 7:00 p.m., on June 21st; a DH at home vs Racine at 5:00 p.m., on June 24th; a DH at home against Dodgeville at 5:00 p.m., on June 27th; and a game on June 29th at 6:00 p.m., vs Beaver Dam.

Wildcats Allow Zero Hits Against Parkview

On May 10th, the Belleville Wildcats baseball team played at Cambridge. Cambridge jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and kept it to win the game by the same score.
Ryan Downing and Anthony Nolden were 2x3 at bat, while Owen Stoikes was 1x3.
Carson Syse pitched 5 innings for the Wildcats, striking out 9, while Kaden DeSmet pitched 1 inning.
On May 12th, the Wildcats hosted Parkview. The Wildcats were leading by 6 by the end of the 2nd inning and scored once more in the 5th to win the game. The final score was Belleville 7, Parkview 0.
