American Legion Donates Flag Poles to Scouts

The New Glarus Stuessy-Kuenzi American Legion Post 141 bought and donated new flag poles for Cub Scouts Pack 848 (New Glarus and Monticello) recently. American Legion Commander Tim Schmitt presented the poles to the Scouts at a recent meeting.

New Glarus Agriculture Department Plant Sale

On Thursday, May 19th, from 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., the New Glarus Ag Department will be holding a plant sale at the high school, 1701 2nd Street in New Glarus.
A large variety of plants, including annuals, vegetables and herbs, will be for sale and all funds raised support the Ag classes at New Glarus High School.

New Glarus Roger Bright Polkafest

The New Glarus Roger Bright Polkafest, one of the community’s longest running festivals, returns to draw visitors to downtown New Glarus from Friday, June 10th through Saturday, June 11th! In addition, the sold-out 2022 Beer, Bacon & Cheese Festival will be held on Saturday, June 11th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Polkafest hours are as follows: Friday, June 10th, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Seven New Glarus FCCLA Members to Attend Nationals

Seven young leaders in New Glarus are excitedly preparing for the national FCCLA STAR Events Competition in San Diego, CA, after qualifying at the state competition in April. Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events are events in which middle school and high school students may compete at the regional, state, and national levels. Recognition is given for students' proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

Belleville Fire Department Fish Boil

The Belleville Fire Department is holding their 26th Annual Fish Boil on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at the Belleville Fire Station, 33 E. Main Street.
Serving times are at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available from any Belleville firefighter and at the fire station on Monday nights from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The ticket cost is $17.00 per adult, and children 5 and under eat free.

For others, it’s simply horrible. Seasonal allergy suffers are subjected to pollen from grass, weeds, flowers and trees. It’s inescapable. And it’s miserable.

Cops N' Bobbers

The Belleville Police Department and Wisconsin DNR invite you to join them for their Cops N’ Bobbers event on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., at the Belleville Community Park, Shelter 1, 10 Bross Circle.
Children ages pre-K4 grade through 8th grade can participate in Fishing with a Buddy, and children 4th grade and younger can participate in the Fish Pond. Prizes will be awarded for Biggest Fish and Smallest Fish.
Lunch will be provided by UW Health Belleville Family Medicine.

Carla D. Ufken, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the SSM Health Hospice Home in Monroe. She was born on September 16, 1931, in Brodhead, WI, the daughter of Granville and Ferne (Ostrander) Lewis.

JOYCE LAPP

The good Lord sent his angels to Rockford early on the morning of May 13th, and carried back to Heaven a wonderful, sweet lady named Joyce Lapp to be with him forever. Joyce contracted COVID on April 20th and passed away at OSF Medical Center in Rockford on May 13, 2022. Joyce was born the daughter of John and Doris (Jordan) Mellenberger of Dayton/Belleville, Wisconsin, on October 31, 1948.
