Monticello/New Glarus Softball Loses Two

The Monticello/New Glarus varsity softball team played at Pecatonica on May 2nd. Pec scored early and often, leading to a 2-8 M/NG loss.
Kylie Liegel was 1x3 with 2 runs scored. Katelyn Eyler, Riley Keehn, Brea McCoy and Grace Seffrood also got hits.
Jaden Zuber pitched 4 innings, striking out 6, while Kira Whisler pitched 2 innings, striking out 1.
On May 5th the team hosted River Ridge. M/NG hopped out to an early lead but couldn’t overcome the 7 runs that River Ridge scored in the 3rd to win the game. The final score was M/NG 10, River Ridge 15.

SR Raider Soccer Falls to McFarland

The Sugar River Raiders varsity girls soccer team played McFarland at Madison College on May 6th in a non-conference game. McFarland dominated the game and won, 6-1.
Sugar River’s lone goal was made by Hannah Boldebuck in the second half, assisted by Callie Smith.
Morgan Thompson had 12 saves on goal, while Skyler Beyer had 5.
The Raiders played at Lakeside Lutheran on May 10th. They will host their Swiss Kick Tournament on May 14th and play Columbus on May 16th.

Sugar River Track Hosts Triple Dual

The Sugar River Raiders track team hosted a Capitol Conference Triple Dual on May 3rd.

In the 100M Dash, DJ Donnell placed 2nd while Patrick Samon placed 3rd and Cade Thayer placed 6th.
Jack Erickson won the 200M Dash with a PR, while DeMarcus Conner finished 3rd and Alex Shrader finished 6th.
DeMarcus Conner won the 400M Dash with a PR, while Carter Scholey finished 2nd and Charlie Sarbacker finished 6th.

Monticello/Albany Baseball Loses to Pec

The Monticello/Albany varsity baseball team played at Pecatonica on May 5th, losing 20-1.
Jackson Eyler and Drew Freitag were the only two players to get hits during the game for M/A.
Andy Gertsch, Aiden Brewer, Cody Pryce and Leon Parker all pitched for Monticello/Albany.
On May 9th, Monticello/Albany played at Black Hawk, losing 4-9.
Jackson Eyler went 3x4 with 2 runs scored, while Brayden Bakken was 1x3 with 1 run scored. Ray Valentine scored 1 run.
Andy Gertsch pitched for 4 innings striking out 8, while Cody Pryce pitched 2 innings striking out 5.

New Glarus Golf Team Edges Out Monroe in Swiss Cup Dual

As golf legend Arnold Palmer said, “What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive.” The drives were certainly flying far for the New Glarus golf team last week.
The Knights competed in three meets in four days at Columbus, at Spring Green, and returned home to Edelweiss Chalet Country Club. The Knights are currently third in the conference, behind Cambridge and Lodi.

New Glarus Bike Rodeo

The New Glarus Bike Rodeo will take place on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., at the New Glarus Village Park. The bike rodeo will focus on bike safety, first aid and the health benefits of biking. This fun, free community event is sponsored in partnership with the New Glarus Police Department, the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce and many other local businesses.

Remember Me Red Run Held Last Week

Bailey's Run Vineyard and Winery held their 4th Annual Remember Me Red 5K Run/Walk. The event helps to help raise money for research to help find a cure for Alzheimer's &amp; Dementia. Bailey's Run was proud to announce that this year's event raised $25,710 for The Alzheimer's &amp; Dementia Alliance of WI. Every single dollar that is donated is given to ADAW. Organizers thanked all of the runners and walkers, along with the partners and sponsors.

A Ribbon Cutting was held on Wednesday, May 4th, to welcome the Pink Heifer Saloon and Smokehouse to Monticello. The Monticello Chamber of Commerce also presented the owners with a First Dollar Award.
