Blanchardville Man Dies as a Result of Motorcycle Crash

At approximately 1:07 p.m., on Monday, August 1, 2022, Deputies, the Blanchardville Fire Department, Blanchardville EMS, and MedFlight responded to the W8700 block of STH 39, Town of York, for a report of a motorcycle crash with injury. Investigation determined the operator, Chad A. Schneider, 50, Blanchardville, was traveling east on STH 39 when he attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone. Schneider was unable to negotiate the curve in the roadway after passing the vehicle and entered the ditch. Schneider was ejected from the motorcycle and was not wearing a helmet.

Green County Sheriff's Office National Night Out Event

Join the Green County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments, Green County EMS, K9 Ali and more for their National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., at the Juda Community Center, N2350 County Road S in Juda.
This event is a chance for community members to meet local first responders, law enforcement and community organizations. There will also be free food and activities.

Due to a shortage of female jail deputies and the labor-intensive design of the 1981 Green County Jail, all female inmates have been moved to the Iowa County Jail, or, if eligible for Huber privileges, placed on electronic monitoring.

Sugar River QOV Honors Local Veteran With an Honorary 300,000th Quilt Award

The Sugar River QOV presented Thomas E. Neath an honorary 300,000th Quilts of Valor® on August 5, 2022. This honorary quilt celebrates an important milestone of 300,000th Quilts of Valor®, the total number of quilts made and awarded by Quilts of Valor Foundation® (QOVF) groups and members to Veterans and Service Members touched by war. Members across the U.S. have awarded 300,000 quilts total since the foundation was started in 2003.

American Legion Baseball Team Finishes Outstanding Season

Congratulations to Belleville's first American Legion Baseball Team for an outstanding 2022 season. These 14 young men are a fine example of Wildcat pride, and we were very happy to sponsor them for the season.
Recently the team presented Duppler-Smith Post 460 a framed team jersey signed by all the players.
Post 460 Wildcats ended the season with a 12-7 record. We look forward to next year for some great baseball viewing again. Thank you Belleville for your continued community support for the team and the American Legion.

Blood and Platelet Donors Needed Now to Help Prevent a Seasonal Blood Shortage

Just as most cars need to be refueled constantly, so does the nation’s blood supply. The American Red Cross has faced a concerning drop in blood and platelet donations this summer. Donors are needed to make an appointment to give in August to help prevent a blood shortage.

The 2022 Belleville Community Picnic Chicken Dinner is being held on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The dinner includes 1/2 chicken, baked potato, dressing, coleslaw, dinner roll and milk. The cost of the dinner is $15.00.
Chicken Dinner delivery orders are available again to elderly and shut-in residents in the 53508 zip code.

Wildcat Football Reunion August 19th

There will be a fifth reunion of ALL Belleville High School football alumni the evening of August 19, 2022. This includes former players, coaches, cheerleaders, managers and fans from the 1940’s through the Class of 2022.
This event will be held in conjunction with the Belleville Wildcats vs Cambridge Blue Jays football game held at the Sports Complex starting at 7:00 p.m.
