Debra Ufken, age 70, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the SSM Health Hospice Home in Monroe. She was born on December 24, 1951, at Ft. Hood, TX, the daughter of Alfred and Carla (Lewis) Ufken.

New Glarus Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show

The New Glarus Car, Truck and Motorcycle show will be held from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., on Sunday, October 2, 2022, in downtown New Glarus. Enter at the corner of 5th Avenue and Railroad Street.
The first 100 entries will receive a dash plaque, and awards, including Best of Car, Best of Truck and Best of Show, will be presented at 3:00 p.m.
The New Glarus Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show is sponsored by the New Glarus Car Show Committee and the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce.

Annual Native American Indian Artifact Show

The Badger State Archaeological Society will hold its 43rd Annual Native American Indian Artifact Show on Sunday, October 23rd. The event will be held at the Rehmstedt Gym in the Monticello School, 334 S. Main Street, Monticello, WI, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Cost of admission is $2.00 for 14 years and older.

Annual Fall Colors Car Cruise

The annual Fall Colors Cruise, in memory of TJ Disch, will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Registration is at the Monticello Fire Station from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., with the group photo at 10:45 a.m. The cruise departs from the fire station at 11:00 a.m. sharp, making a few stops along the way, and will return at dusk to King’s Bar and Grill, 244 N. Main Street in Monticello, where the raffle drawing and silent auction will take place.

New Glarus/Monticello Football Co-op to End

For 40 years, New Glarus and Monticello have shared a football team. It’s one of the longest co-ops in state history. Beginning in 2024, however, that co-op will come to an end. New Glarus has decided to end the program. New Glarus School Superintendent Jennifer Thayer confirmed the end of the co-op, saying that decision had been made due to the lack of participation from Monticello athletes. She also sent a document that is in the public board book.

Homecoming Week in New Glarus

Highlights of Homecoming Week include the Pep Rally at 2:15 p.m., and the Bonfire and Ultimate Football at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 28th; the Homecoming Parade at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, September 30th; and the Homecoming Dance to be held from 8:00 p.m.-Midnight on Saturday, October 1st, with the Grand March at 8:30 p.m.

Oktoberfest in New Glarus

Oktoberfest was held in New Glarus last weekend. The festival ran Thursday through Sunday and included great food, beer, and entertainment! On Thursday night, Andy Schulz and Amy Doefer were crowned King and Queen of the 2022 Oktoberfest!
