Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion to Hold Raffle

Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion in Belleville has made the decision for the third year in a row not to hold our yearly Feather Party/Bingo in November. COVID poses too much risk to ask people to attend in our building at this time. We would also like to give the local businesses another year to recover economically from the hardship of the Pandemic. The American Legion urges everyone to support local business and charitable organizations in the area. That is why, in good conscience, we cannot ask for donations at this time to support our community wide Feather Party.

Vote Leah Spicer for 51st Assembly!

Dear Editor,
Quality of life, quality of health, and the freedom to make individual choices go hand in hand with a healthy democracy. Leah Spicer is the choice to protect these! Leah is running for State Assembly in the 51st district.
Leah supports fair district maps that allow constituents to choose their representative. Fair maps ensure your vote counts! Sadly, her opponent, Todd Novak, continues to vote for maps that cheat the public of their voice.

Vote to Make Your Vote Matter

Dear Editor,
Tony Evers was elected Governor of Wisconsin in 2019. That is a fact.
His election meant that the majority of voters in that election wanted his policies to go into effect. One way he gets his policies implemented is to appoint people to administrative positions in government who will carry out his policies.
That’s the way democracy should work.
But the Republican controlled Senate has refused to confirm 42% of Evers’ 299 appointees - leaving many Walker appointees in positions of power more than a year after their terms expired.

Harvest Fest to be Held on Sunday

Connect with 19th century Swiss immigrant life at the annual Harvest Fest at the Swiss Historical Village & Museum on Sunday, October 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., where daily routines and responsibilities of the past – cheese making, blacksmithing, yarn spinning, basket weaving – are re-created. Enjoy a Swiss Brätzeli cookie-making demonstration. Talk to Civil War re-enactors, the “Bee Man,” a wheelwright and a sausage maker. (You can even buy their products!) For those of you who are feeling ambitious, practice your three Rs in a one-room schoolhouse.
