Blood and Platelet Donors Needed

The American Red Cross is asking donors to book a time to give blood or platelets before busy fall schedules and holiday celebrations ramp up. When blood donations drop, so does the blood supply, making it extremely challenging to ensure blood is available when hospitals need it. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donors are needed to help ensure blood and platelets are always available and on the shelves for cancer patients and others who rely on transfusions for care.

Why Wasn't Due Diligence Done?

Dear Editor,
We are responding to the letter in the Post about the new school wanting to pursue building a road at 8th Street and 11th Avenue. The Village Board would not pass a variance for the school to construct a driveway. Now they want to make it a road, so therefore the Village will have to maintain it, at taxpayer’s expense.

Primrose Church Supper Appreciation

Dear Editor,
October 8th was the Primrose Curbside Church Supper and all were fed, with some leftovers. We had a sunny, but very windy, afternoon on the hill and appreciate all the folks in the community that came by for a meal.
So much goes into the church supper. The planning, donations of all those homemade pies, cranberries and Norwegian goodies. Then the preparation of 250 lbs of potatoes, rolling 150 lbs of meat for the meatballs, the corn, the hams, boxing all the yummy goodies, filling the hot boxes, and having them prepared for your pick-up ready to enjoy.

Spicer has the Work Ethic the 51st Deserves

Dear Editor,
This year I had the pleasure of taking my grandson to his first Pecatonica Homecoming. As in so many of our small towns, dozens of people contribute to the organization of our Blanchardville event. Lots of graduating classes come back home to create floats and throw candy to the kids lined up along the parade. I’m so grateful for all who contribute. It’s always a terrific time, and a great opportunity to celebrate our home-town spunk, pride and energy.

Leah Spicer, a Positive Force for Change

Dear Editor,
Given all of the dysfunction going on within our political system, it can be very tempting to opt out of voting. It often seems as though candidates are more concerned with smearing their opponents than they are with presenting their ideas, which can leave one feeling discouraged and uninspired. So it was refreshing to hear the candidate for State Assembly, Leah Spicer, speak about things that matter to us all.

Disch Urges Board to Stay Vigilant

Dear Editor,
This is in response to Jennifer Thayer’s recent letter to the editor.
Village Board Employees, please stay vigilant - do not let the leadership of the school “bully” you into a decision they did not do their own “homework” on. You’ve already rejected this request once on solid merit.

Vote for Democrats in November

Dear Editor,
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could talk politics with family and friends again, without campaign admen and social media manipulating us, and dividing us?
My home mailbox and inbox is full of messages from the GOP, claiming to know what I stand for. Speaking as a Mother, Grandmother, a Democrat, and a Healthcare provider here in Southwest Wisconsin, I would like to set the record straight.
