Blood and Platelet Donors Needed

The American Red Cross is asking donors to book a time to give blood or platelets before busy fall schedules and holiday celebrations ramp up. When blood donations drop, so does the blood supply, making it extremely challenging to ensure blood is available when hospitals need it. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donors are needed to help ensure blood and platelets are always available and on the shelves for cancer patients and others who rely on transfusions for care.

Monticello Lions Trap Shoot

The Monticello Lions Club held the Dan Karlen Memorial Trap Shoot on October 1st, at the Argyle Rod & Gun Clubhouse. We had quite a few shooters and raffle prizes galore. The shooters also received tickets for the bucket raffle and a nice lunch was provided for them, with Chef Dean doing the grilling.

Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion to Hold Raffle

Duppler-Smith Post #460 American Legion in Belleville has made the decision for the third year in a row not to hold our yearly Feather Party/Bingo in November. COVID poses too much risk to ask people to attend in our building at this time. We would also like to give the local businesses another year to recover economically from the hardship of the Pandemic. The American Legion urges everyone to support local business and charitable organizations in the area. That is why, in good conscience, we cannot ask for donations at this time to support our community wide Feather Party.

Please Stand for our Flag

Dear Editor,
Job well done for all those involved in orchestrating the Homecoming parade in New Glarus. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather that day!
To be able to observe people gathering, smiling, socializing, meeting up with old friends/making new friends, watching kids anxiously anticipate all the parade has to offer - was really beautiful. Such a simple tradition as a parade can bring people such delight…

New Glarus School Board Again Proposes Entrance to Primary School Site at 8th St./11th Ave.

Dear Editor,
In April 2021, New Glarus School District residents approved a referendum to build a 4K-2 Primary School by more than 70%. The Primary School would be built on 45 acres of land owned by the school district on the village’s southwest side. The New Glarus School Board and staff have been working with village staff to finalize site plans for the new school. However, site access points remain an unresolved issue.
