Area Veterans Day Programs

Belleville’s Veteran Day Program was held on Wednesday, November 9th, at 7:00 p.m., at the Belleville High School.

Ponies Bring Home Silver

The Monticello Ponies volleyball team competed at the WIAA State Volleyball Tournament on Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5, 2022.
The first challenge for the Ponies was Athens on Friday. Monticello won in five sets, 25-22, 12-25, 25-27, 25-21, 15-9.
Ellie Gustafson led the Ponies in kills with 28, while Macey Grant had 9 and Dalana Trumpy and Kennadee Johnson had 5 each. Kelsy Grant had 40 aces, while Ellie Gustafson had 4 and Dalana Trumpy had 3. Ellie Gustafson had 34 digs, while Jaden Zuber had 18, Macey Grant had 16 and Dalana Trumpy had 10.

Monticello Ponies Heading to State Tournament

The Monticello Ponies volleyball team will be playing in the State Tournament on Friday, November 4th, at 9:00 a.m., at the Resch Center in Green Bay vs Athens. There will be no school in Monticello on Friday. According the school, tickets to the game are available in the district office until Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Tickets will also be available to be purchased directly at the Resch Center, though school officials encourage fans to buy them ahead of time. General admission tickets are $11.00. The Division 4 school that sells the most tickets ahead of time wins $1,000!

Awards Presented at Annual Artifact Show

The 43rd annual Indian Artifact Show was held on Sunday, October 23rd, at the Monticello School. Organizers report that the show was very well attended and they had exhibitors from the states of Washington, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. There were 84 tables of artifacts on display. Next year's show will be Sunday, October 22, 2023.

New Glarus FFA Members Attend National Convention

The New Glarus FFA attended the National Convention hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 26th-29th. They, as well as other Green County chapters, embarked on many adventures and fun activities. Some of those included going to the rodeo, concert, tour at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, attending sessions with inspirational speeches, career expo, and college fairs. Each of the members enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends and everyone had a great time!

Extension On-Farm Cow-Calf Workshop Slated for November

Cattle handling facilities and herd health topics will be the focus of upcoming regional UW-Madison Division of Extension On-Farm Cow-Calf Workshops. The on-farm workshops will include a tour and discussion of the host farm’s cattle handling/working facilities, discussions and presentations about herd health and preconditioning, and upcoming changes to purchasing antibiotics. The workshops should last approximately 2.5 hours, with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m., tour, discussions, and presentations from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., at the following location.

Election Day Chili Dinner at Cornerstone Lutheran Church

Celebrate Election Day and treat yourself to a delicious Chili Dinner. Take-out or dine-in from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Each dinner includes a bowl of homemade chili, corn bread, and yummy dessert bar.
Sure to be tasty, Cornerstone’s chili received a 1st place award at the recent Argyle Community Chili Cook off held on October 15th.
The dinner is yours with a free-will offering - a $6.00 donation is recommended, but not required.

Monticello Schools Celebrates Staff

The Monticello School District recently celebrated their staff's years of service with certificates and dimes for each year of service in Monticello, at the Pink Heifer. Their staff has 939 years of total service to education and 721 years of combined service as Ponies. Mrs. Colleen Wells received the most dimes (39).
