The upcoming operating referendum of the Belleville School District is a commitment to our schools. But even more so, it is an investment in our community.

Provision Benefits Millions of Taxpayers, Not Just a Privileged Few

Dear Editor,
There has been a lot of ads on TV recently suggesting that Senator Ron Johnson was responsible for passage of a “tax loophole” that only benefitted himself and the wealthy. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Senator Johnson championed the passage of Sec.199a to the Internal Revenue Code. Sec.199a provides a Qualified Business Income Deduction (QBID) of up to 20% of qualified business or farm income for individuals only. It does not apply to C Corporations. This provision benefits millions of taxpayers, large and small, not just a privileged few.

Recurring Referendum to Allow Competitive Pay

Dear Editor,
We feel blessed and grateful for the School District of Belleville and the education that has been provided to our children. We have incredible staff at the school district. We would like to see the wages be competitive in comparison to the surrounding schools. The recurring referendum will allow us to pay our teachers and staff competitively. We hope to retain our great teachers. We can be very proud of our school district and look forward to seeing this continue for future generations in our wonderful community.
Sincerely,

Save the Sledding Hill and Green Space by Candy Cane Park

Dear Editor,
For those who may not be aware, Shepherd of the Hills Church has officially listed the land between their church and parsonage for sale. (Please see the Zillow link below.) As you can see from the aerial photo, the church property accounts for the majority of land that people in the community generally think of as Candy Cane Park. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/10th-Ave-1-New-Glarus-WI-53574/206115...

Communities Need More Greenspace, Not Less

Dear Editor,
I want to write and show my support for the efforts locally to acquire the large 2.2-acre grassy field behind Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in New Glarus. That greenspace has been part of the New Glarus community for more than 50 years, and used by many more people than just those on the southwest side of the village. At a time when studies show communities need more greenspace, not less, I think it would be a tragedy if that area, which is essentially an extension to Candy Cane Park, was lost to private ownership and developed.

Lower Taxes and More Funding for Schools – A Winning Combination

Dear Editor,
I am voting in favor of the Belleville School District’s operating referendum on November 8th, and I urge you to join me! I want to ensure the school district has the financial resources and flexibility necessary to educate students well. Our school district does a phenomenal job showing up for students every day and providing them with a high-quality education; now it is our turn to show up to the polls and support the school district as voters, parents and residents of the Belleville School District.
I plan to support Belleville’s referendum because:
