Rollover Accident in Town of Montrose

On Monday, November 28, 2022, just before 6:00 a.m., Belleville Fire and EMS responded to a report of a rollover crash with unknown injuries. The single occupant of the vehicle was able to crawl out prior to their arrival. They were evaluated on scene by EMS. The driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. Damage estimates for the property were not immediately available. Dane County Sheriff's Office Deputies assisted on scene.

Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund Accepting Donations

New Glarus Cares Community Group Partnering with Only in Wisconsin Giving Foundation

In early October, the 2.2 acres of green space adjacent to Candy Cane Park was listed for sale by Shepherd of the Hills Church. This green space has served as an extension of Candy Cane Park for well over 50 years, and is widely utilized by children and families in the community throughout the year. In particular during this time of year, “Kittleson Hill” or “Killer Hill”, which is what the area youth affectionately refer to it as, acts at the sledding hill for the entire community, often drawing 50+ children, parents, and grandparents on a sunny, snowy weekend afternoon.

Several Injured in Thanksgiving Morning Crash

On Thanksgiving morning, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Green County Deputies, along with New Glarus Fire Department, New Glarus Area EMS, and New Glarus Police Department, responded to the intersection of CTH J and CTH A, in the Town of York, for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Kevin L. Hewitt, 67, Apple River, IL, was traveling eastbound on CTH A and turned northbound onto CTH J, when the vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling southbound on CTH J.

New Glarus Earns High Scores on State Report Cards

New Glarus School District continues to see scores rise on the state report cards and now ranks in the top 25 4K-12 school districts in the state of Wisconsin. Each year all schools and districts are given a star rating by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), and this year New Glarus School District and each of the individual schools in the district earned 4 or 5 stars on the state report cards.

New Glarus Adventsfenster Begins Next Week

Throughout the month of December, residents and visitors to New Glarus will be able to view Adventsfensters throughout New Glarus. What is an Adventsfenster? In short, it is a life-size Advent calendar. Adventsfensters are common in the smaller towns and villages in Switzerland, and New Glarus resident Jacqueline Judd has brought the now yearly tradition to New Glarus. Up until Christmas (December 1-24), all over the village there will be 24 locations who will decorate one or more of their windows in a holiday/winter theme.

Monticello Girls Win Over Johnson Creek

On Thursday, November 17th, the Monticello Lady Ponies hosted Johnson Creek. The Ponies led by 20 points at the half, 35-15, and cruised to a 59-37 victory.
Ellie Gustafson had a double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Dalana Trumpy also had a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Molly Olson scored 12 points, and Jaden Zuber scored 11 points.
Monticello hosts Benton on November 28th, Wisconsin Heights on December 6th and will play at Parkview on December 8th.
