Monticello Christmas Stocking Fund Accepting Donations

Many Supplies Collected for Wildlife in Need Center

Pictured here are some of the supplies that were collected for the Wildlife in Need Center. Animal ambassadors from Wildlife in Need will be visiting the library on Wednesday, November 23rd, at 1:00 p.m. Learn about different animals and the eco systems they're a part of. This program is for all ages of animal lovers.

Santa Claus to Visit Monticello, Kids Can Shop at Santa's Workshop for Their Families

Santa Claus is coming to town!! Santa will make his annual pre-Christmas visit to Monticello on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Monticello Fire Station. While Santa greets the children there and hears their wishes for Christmas, his elves are working hard to set up a special shop for the children to buy gifts for their family members. The Workshop will be open from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., for kids to shop before or after seeing Santa. Santa’s Workshop can’t happen without your help.

Zwingli Brotherhood Pancake Breakfast

The Zwingli Brotherhood is holding a drive through Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, November 19th, from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., at the church, 416 E. Lake Avenue in Monticello.
The breakfast will include tasty golden pancakes, locally harvested maple syrup, butter, sausage and applesauce. A $5.00 donation is suggested.

Belleville Community Giving Tree 2022

Yes, it’s that time of year already! We will again be offering tags with gift suggestions for children in need in our community. The tags will be available by Friday, November 18th, at the following locations: Belleville Chiropractic and Wellness, Belleville Hometown Pharmacy, Lingonberry Llama, Monona Bank-Belleville, State Bank of Cross Plains-Belleville, and the Bank of New Glarus-Belleville.

Brodhead Habitat Home Available

Habitat for Humanity of Green County (HHGC) is accepting applications for a family to participate in the rehabilitation of a home at 1202 East 6th Avenue, in Brodhead. In return, the family will receive a considerable discount on the home’s purchase price and assistance in transitioning to home ownership.
The existing 1,700 square foot home was built by HHGC in 2014. Habitat’s mission is to give families a boost into home ownership. To qualify for a Habitat home, the family’s current housing situation must be physically inadequate, unsafe, overcrowded, or a cost burden.

Winter Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin is November 14-18, 2022. Tanna McKeon, Green County Emergency Management Director, reminds us to be prepared for the cold winter weather that will soon be here. Winter weather impacts so many different aspects of our lives – winter storms creating poor to dangerous driving conditions, power outages, ice storms, injuries from shoveling snow or falling on the ice and of course the cold, which can be extremely dangerous to humans and animals too.

Gov. Evers, DHS Announce Grants to Expand Child Telepsychiatry Services, Access to Behavioral Health Care

Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) have recently awarded $2.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to five organizations to increase access to child telepsychiatry services. The one-year grants of $500,000 each will support projects focused on recruiting and retaining psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals and deploying technology to connect more providers with patients through virtual visits.

Sugar River Euchre

The Pipe Benders had an easy go of it last week and were able to pull out their second win of the season without playing a single card in competition. With their captain out of town and down three players, the Trolls were forced to forfeit the match with the Pipe Benders. By doing so, the Trolls are still looking for their first win of the season.
