Wildcats Ground Flying Arrows

The Belleville varsity boys basketball team played at Lancaster on December 19th. Up 52-26 at the half, the Wildcats kept their lead and held the Flying Arrows to just 16 points in the second half to secure the win. The final score was Belleville 92, Lancaster 42.
Kaden DeSmet scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats, with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, while Jack Erickson scored 13 points with 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals, Andrew Ace put 12 on the board with 3 rebounds and 2 steals, and DeMarcus Conner scored 11 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals.

New Glarus High School Skills USA Chapter Competes in District Competition

The Skills USA chapter of New Glarus High School competed in the district competition at Oregon High School on December 19, 2022. Over 200 students from area schools participated in the event.
Twelve New Glarus High School students participated in the team engineering challenge, with sophomore Owen Runkle bringing home a bronze medal for his woodworking display entry.

Ribbon Cutting at Harvey Kubly's New Office

Harvey Kubly of Monticello started his CPA practice in January of 1983, sharing an office with the Lindgren Agency in Monroe. In 1984, Kubly opened an office in Monticello, at 148 N. Main Street, sharing an office space with a real estate firm. Eventually the office in Monroe was closed and Kubly took over the entire office in Monticello. In May of 2022 Kubly moved to the new location at 203 E. Lake Avenue in Monticello.

During the upcoming holiday Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, law enforcement agencies across Wisconsin will boost patrols to watch out for impaired drivers.
The goal of the stepped-up law enforcement effort is not just to arrest impaired drivers. The mission is to enhance public safety and prevent needless tragedies by discouraging people from making the dangerous decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.

Bond Reduced in Case Against Derek Hammer

The family of Melissa Trumpy has endured yet another Christmas without her. The Monticello mother of three went missing in October 2021. Friends and family of Trumpy have said that they believe her boyfriend, Derek Hammer, knows what happened to her but authorities say that he has been uncooperative. Hammer is currently in the Green County Jail awaiting trial on a number of charges involving drugs, weapons and domestic violence, as well as bail jumping. On Tuesday, December 2022, in a hearing before Rock County Circuit Judge Ashley J. Morse, his bond was reduced to $25,000.

Wildcats Overcome Double Digit Deficit to Win Over Lake Mills

On December 12th, the Wildcats boys basketball team played at Cuba City. Down by 5 at the half, the Wildcats went on to lose the game despite dialing it up on offense in the second half. The final score was Belleville 72, Cuba City 78.
Andrew Ace, who sunk six 3-point shots, led the team with 24 points scored, while Nathan Meier scored 10 points and Kaden DeSmet scored 9 points.
