Prom 4 Pennies Event to be Held

The Monroe High School Jr. Optimists Club is hosting their annual Prom 4 Pennies event on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Monroe High School, 1600 26th Street, Monroe, from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
At this event, gently used and new prom dresses and tuxedos are available for no more than $40.00. All proceeds go to Jacob’s SWAG foundation, which advocates for suicide and mental health awareness. All area students are invited to shop at this event.

RONALD H. WONDERS

Ronald H. Wonders, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022, at UW Hospital in Madison surrounded by family. He was born on October 25, 1939, in Darlington, Wisconsin. He was the son of Stanley and Mary (Chapman) Wonders.

HANS A. SULZER

Hans A. Sulzer, age 91 of rural Monroe, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2022. He was born on November 8, 1931, and was the only child of immigrants Alfred Sulzer and Johanna Egger Sulzer, both from Meiringen, Switzerland. His father was a cheesemaker and mother a homemaker.
He attended Monroe High School and was Class President his senior year in 1949. Hans attended UW-Madison before enlisting in the Air Force during the Korean War. He taught flight instrumentation and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant at Chanute AFB (Rantoul, IL).

Frederick A. Schwoerer, age 85, passed away December 9, 2022. He was born July 31, 1937, to Albert and Matilda (Eischen) Schwoerer. He married Barbara J. (Esser) Schwoerer on August 12, 1958.

Dwayne Lee Marty, age 78, passed away on November 30, 2022, at SSM Health Hospice House in Baraboo. He was born June 26, 1944, to Herman and Audrey (Klitzman) Marty.

Grants Awarded by New Glarus Community Fund and New Glarus Excellence in Education Fund

At a recent reception at the Chalet Landhaus, over $24,000 was awarded to area organizations. This brings the total given since 1996 the New Glarus Community Fund and New Glarus Excellence in Education Fund in excess of $350,000 in grants to area organizations.

New Glarus Adventsfenster Continues

Throughout the month of December, residents and visitors to New Glarus will be able to view Adventsfensters throughout New Glarus. Up until Christmas (December 1-24), all over the village there will be 24 locations who will decorate one or more of their windows in a holiday/winter theme. During the decoration process and until the window is publicly revealed, the design stays hidden. Every evening a window will be revealed at a set time.

New Glarus Area EMS to Host Life Savers Recognition Ceremony

The New Glarus Area community is invited to join local emergency responders for a ceremony to recognize life-saving work done this year.
New Glarus Area Emergency Medical Services (NGAEMS) is hosting the event at the New Glarus High School auditorium on Thursday, December 15th, at 7:00 p.m.
