Wildcats Score Big Win at Jamboree

The Belleville Wildcats boys basketball team played at Mineral Point on December 1st, losing a close game 63-68.
DeMarcus Conner led Belleville with 17 points, while Andrew Ace scored 14 points and Kaden DeSmet scored 13 points.
On December 3rd, Belleville played at Lena-Winslow. The Wildcats came out on top with a big win, 68-30.
Kaden DeSmet scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats, while Andrew Ace scored 12 points and DeMarcus Conner scored 9 points.

Lady Knights Defeat Lakeside Lutheran

The New Glarus Lady Knights hosted Lakeside Lutheran on December 1st. Up by 10 at the half, New Glarus cruised to a 63-47 win over the Warriors.
Lindsey Schadewalt also reached 1,000 career points during the game becoming just the seventh player to reach the milestone, joining Jeanne Bischoff, Class of 1982; Marlaina Feller, Class of 1984; Brenda Jelle, Class of 1990; Jessica Ott, Class of 1996; Bri Hauge, Class of 2007; and Jaylynn Benson, Class of 2021.

Santa Claus to Visit Monticello, Kids Can Shop at Santa's Workshop for Their Families

Santa Claus is coming to town!! Santa will make his annual pre-Christmas visit to Monticello on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Monticello Fire Station. While Santa greets the children there and hears their wishes for Christmas, his elves are working hard to set up a special shop for the children to buy gifts for their family members. The Workshop will be open from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m., for kids to shop before or after seeing Santa. Santa’s Workshop can’t happen without your help.

New Glarus Community Blood Drive

The American Red Cross is asking donors to give something that means something this holiday season. Your blood donation can help a patient get home for the holidays. This time of year, blood drives across the country are often affected by seasonal illness and winter weather. If you’re feeling healthy and well, your blood donation is needed NOW to help meet the needs of hospital patients this holiday season. Eligible donors with types O, B negative or A negative blood are encouraged to make a Power Red donation at this blood drive.

Monticello Lions Club Members Presented With Awards

The Monticello Lions Club held their Christmas party at the Pink Heifer on Sunday, December 4th. It was a lot of fun, with many prizes being won.
Lion Linn Lederman and Lion Michael Davis were presented the Birch Sturm fellowship award by Council Chair Tammy Rochenbach and WLF Director Jim Fletcher. This award is presented to those who were very involved with their club and community. This was very well deserved by these two Lions. The Club would also like to thank the community and surrounding area for their continued support. It is very much appreciated.

Piano Play-A-Thon to Take Place in Monticello

The Green County Piano Teachers will be sponsoring a Piano Play-A-Thon on Saturday, December 10th, from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., at Java Lava Café in Monticello, at 203 N. Main Street. This event will feature piano students from the Green County area playing a variety of holiday music.
The teachers participating are Rita Farris, Carolyn Hilliard, Dawn Jordan, Gwen Shaker and Julie Zimmerman.

Pre-Christmas Bake Sale at Zwingli Church

The Zwingli Women’s Guild will be hosting a Pre-Christmas Bake Sale in the North Room at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Avenue. The bake sale will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Holiday Cookies, Bratzeli, Breads and many other goodies will be available. All cookies will be sold by the pound and containers will be provided.

Hoo's Woods Raptor Center Holds Program at Belleville Public Library

Diane Moller, a Raptor Educator from Hoo's Woods Raptor Center, brought five live education birds to the Belleville Public Library on November 28.
The birds included a bald eagle and snowy owl. All ages learned more about these birds and the rehabilitation that Hoo's Woods does with injured or sick raptors.
