Albany Lions Club Pancake Day

The Albany Lions Club is holding their 56th Annual Pancake Day on Saturday, February 11, 2023, serving from 7:00 a.m. until Noon.
Tickets are $8.00 for adults, ages 5-12, $3.00, and ages 4 and under eat free.
Pancake Day will be held at the Albany Lions Building, 402 N. Cincinnati Street in Albany.

Lake Montesian Fisheree

The Lake Montesian Fisheree will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, from 7:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m., at Lake Montesian in Monticello. The Fisheree is sponsored by the Monticello Lions Club. There is no entry fee to participate, however you must purchase a raffle ticket to be eligible for fish prizes.
Door prize drawings will take place at 1:30 p.m., and the Grand Prize will be drawn at 2:30 p.m. You do not need to be present to win. There will also be prizes for the largest and smallest fish.

Wildcats Win Big Last Week

The varsity Belleville Wildcats hosted Cambridge on January 17th. Leading 52-24 at the half, the Wildcats went on to win the game 88-59.
Hitting five 3-pointers, Kaden DeSmet led the Wildcats with 23 points, while Carter Scholey added 14 points and Jack Erickson contributed 10 points.
On January 20th, the Wildcats hosted Marshall. Leading by a single point at the half, Belleville revved up their offense in the second half and won the game. The final score was Belleville 67, Marshall 52.

Lady Wildcats Win Over Waterloo

The varsity Belleville Lady Wildcats hosted Mineral Point on January 17th. Belleville was down at the half, 19-23, and could not keep up with the Lady Pointers' offense in the second, losing the game. The final score was Mineral Point 66, Belleville 46.
Toria Devoe led Belleville with 12 points and had 3 rebounds and 2 steals, while Maddi DeSmet scored 9 points and had 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals and Addison Edge put 8 points on the board with 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.

Ponies Leave Comets in the Dust

On January 16th, the varsity Monticello Ponies boys basketball team played at Black Hawk. Black Hawk led by 4 at the half and the game was tied up at the end of regulation, 38-38. After going into overtime, the teams were tied three times but Black Hawk made two free throws in the last minute to put them up for the win. The final score was Black Hawk 46, Monticello 45.
Leading the Ponies with 12 points was Ryer Indergand, who also had 7 rebounds. Peyton Smith scored 11 points and had 8 rebounds and Jackson Eyler scored 10 points and had 9 rebounds.

Lady Ponies Win Twice

The Monticello varsity Lady Ponies played at Juda on January 19th, winning 54-17.
Dalana Trumpy scored 16 points to lead Monticello, along with having 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal, while Molly Olson scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals and Ellie Gustafson scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.
On January 21st, Monticello hosted Cambria-Friesland and won 67-33.

Glarner Knights Score Pair of Wins on Week

On January 17th, the varsity Glarner Knights hosted Waterloo. The Glarner Knights won the game, 54-37.
Ethan Friedrich led the team with 20 points, while Max Parman scored 7 points and AC Strok put 6 points on the board.
New Glarus hosted Wisconsin Heights on January 20th. Leading at the half 42-33, New Glarus went on to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 78, Wisconsin Heights 59.
AC Strok scored 18 points to lead New Glarus, while Breckyn Thompson scored 17 points, Max Parman scored 14 points and Ethan Friedrich scored 13 points.

Lady Knights One of Six Undefeated Teams in the State

The varsity Lady Knights of New Glarus played at Marshall on January 19th. Leading by 10 at the half, the Knights spent the second half outscoring Marshall 43-14 to land a commanding win. The final score was New Glarus 75, Marshall 37.
Lindsey Schadewalt scored 27 points to lead New Glarus and had 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block, while Grace Nommensen scored 16 points with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal and Elle Lancaster scored 15 points and had 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Genealogy Group Discussion

The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Monroe Public Library at 10:00 a.m. The program is “Who, What, Where are YOU in Your Genealogy?”
This will be a group discussion asking questions, answering questions and learning about genealogy helps from others. Gather your questions and family lore, and come and share it with us.
A short business meeting will be held preceding the program.
