8th Annual Spring Fling Classic Car Show in Monticello

The Monticello Lions Club held their 8th Annual Classic Car Show at Spring Fling on Saturday, May 21, 2022. The predicted rain held off and it was a very nice day to enjoy the event.
Cars were lined up on Main Street and in the Village Parking lot.
Food and beverages were in several locations, including the Lions’ Shelter with cheese curds, New Glarus Beers and Bailey’s Run Wines, and the Fire Department’s Pork Dinner at the fire house. Local restaurants and taverns had specials too.
There was a Co-ed Kickball Tournament, sponsored by the Sports Boosters. Double Elimination, open to players high school age and up. See photo of the winners on page 6.
The Lions Club featured Rock-A-Billy Kid from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
There were a total of 70 entries in the car show this year.

Carnie’s Pick: Frank Schlumpf, 1941 Chevy Master Deluxe. Rory’s Memorial Award: Rob and Karen Wyss, 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT. President’s Choice: Wilson Bloom, 1964 Corvette Sting Ray. Police Chief’s Choice: Julia Marty-Watson and Hans Marty, 1956 Buick Special. Lions’ Choice: Keith Hilkin, 1955 Lincoln Capri. Up and Coming: Shauna and JJ Wettach, 1986 Pontiac Trans Am. Veteran’s Choice: Ken Keough, 1960 Oldsmobile Super 88. Longest Distance: Jim Todd, 1963 Triumph and 1967 Triumph.
