Home ›Annual Photography Contest Celebrates 27 Years
Now in its 27th year, the Monroe Arts Center (MAC) Annual Photography Contest is seeking your best photographs for inclusion in this event. Photographs entered in this contest will be on exhibit in MAC’s Frehner Gallery from September 2nd through October 28th. An opening reception for this exhibit is scheduled for Friday, September 2, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with an awards presentation at 6:00 p.m.
This contest is for non-professional photographers and participants are not required to be Wisconsin residents. There are two separate classifications, Adult Classification and Junior Classification (under 18 years of age), and offers three categories, which are Person, Place, and Thing. Participants may enter no more than two categories and a total of two photographs. Photographs must have been taken after January 1, 2015. The entry fee is $20.00 per photographer, and the entry deadline is Friday August 12, 2016.
First, second, and third place ribbons will be given in each Category and Classification based on merit and number of entrants. Cash awards for the Adult Classification are $125.00 for Best of Show, $75.00 1st Runner-up, and $50.00 2nd Runner-up, and cash awards for the Junior Classification are $50.00 Best of Show, $30.00 1st Runner-up, and $20.00 2nd Runner-up.
Also on exhibit September 2nd through October 23rd is the MAC inaugural exhibition titled “A Sense of Place: Wisconsin Landscape Photographs” by Regina Flanagan, Peter Latner, Jill Metcoff, and Zane Williams. This exhibition will be displayed in the Monroe Arts Center’s new Wellington and Muranyi Galleries.
