Avalanche PeeWee A Team Wraps Up Season

The Avalanche PeeWee A hockey team traveled to Baldwin for the PeeWee 3A State Tournament March 12-13. They took on Somerset in the first game.
The Avalanche dominated the entire game, easily defeating Somerset, 8-2. Scoring were Hayden Roth (4), Tessa Janecke (hat trick), and Roman Bauer. Earning assists were Alvin Buholzer, Hayden Roth, Anna Malone, Alyssa Knauf (2), and Tessa Janecke. The Avalanche outshot Somerset 42-16.
In the next round, the Avalanche took on local rival Reedsburg-Wisconsin Dells (RWD). It was a high-energy, fast-paced game. On a pass from Tessa Janecke, Alyssa Knauf put one in the back of the net. RWD responded with a goal of their own at the end of the first period. The second period was back and forth and ended with no goals from either team, as both teams fought hard. With three minutes left of the third period, RWD snuck one in. The Avalanche pulled the goalie at the end of the third, but RWD fired one down ice defeating the Avalanche, 3-1. The Avalanche outshot RWD, 40-15.
The Avalanche took on Waupun on Sunday, vying for the third place state trophy. Waupun was first to get on the scoreboard at the end of the first period. Hayden Roth responded with two goals within 40 seconds of each other at the top of the second period, assisted by Blaze Janecke. Waupun tied the game 2-2. The Avalanche came back strong in the third period and made great plays, quickly passing and scoring. Alyssa Knauf lit the lamp with two goals, assisted by Tessa Janecke, Alvin Buholzer, and Hayden Roth. Hayden Roth and Tessa Janecke (assisted by Alvin Buholzer) each added a goal. The Avalanche defeated Waupun 6-2, earning the Avalanche the third place PeeWee 3A State trophy. The Avalanche outshot Waupun, 50-20.
The Avalanche PeeWee A ended their season 23-11-1, and Region 3A champs in addition to third place in the state tournament! Congrats to all players!
