The Belleville girls basketball team opened their season on Friday night against the Division 2 Mount Horeb Vikings. The Wildcats competed very well, but unfortunately Mount Horeb's height got the better of them. Mount Horeb won with a final score of 64-55.
This was Mount Horeb's second game of the season, and they quickly jumped out to an 8-point lead early on in the game. The Wildcats fought hard throughout the game and Coach Pharo was very impressed on how well they handled the speed of the game, especially because of the level of Mount Horeb's press; however, they did not finish enough of their shots to come out on top.
Belleville played nine girls on Friday night, with all of them scoring. The Wildcats were paced in scoring by seniors Jenna Shrader and Erin Kittleson with 11 and 10 points respectively, and were led in rebounds by sophomore Callie Smith. Mount Horeb was led in scoring by junior Julia Magnuson with 24 points and sophomore Grace Vesperman with 13 points.
The Wildcats traveled to Argyle on Tuesday night, November 26th, looking for their first win of the season. On December 3rd they will play at Pecatonica at 7:00 p.m., and on December 5th will host Deerfield at 7:30 p.m.
