Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so, please describe: Never been on school board.
Why are you running for school board? Two of my children are graduates of Belleville, and my youngest will graduate this spring. My plan has always been to run for Belleville School Board once my children graduated and I could dedicate my time to the Board and Belleville. My family has been so blessed. I want to offer my talents, experiences, insights and give back to the community I have called home for the majority of my adult life.
School Board decisions made during COVID have failed students by taking away the right to an equitable education. Current member’s personal agendas have been the road block causing innocent students to experience academic failure, insecurities and mental health issues.
What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? The needs of all students have to be addressed to help with mental health, well-being and is vital in educating the whole child. Promoting skilled trades training, technology advances and college prep gives the best options for all students. Genuine commitment to provide high quality education which supports all students of every demographic. Represent entire community, being a good steward of taxpayers hard earned money. I am a no nonsense, no agenda, non-political critical thinking individual. I believe in diversity of thought, building relationships and working together to completely understand the issues. These traits will all these issues to be addressed effectively.
Any additional comments? Recent school board decisions made have failed students by taking away the right to an equitable education. I fear if this continues and the wrong candidates are on the school board this will continue and the academic achievement gaps will continue to widen.
