Chalet of the Golden Fleece Museum is happy to announce additional hours of operations and a discounted admission price during Saengerfest.
The museum, which houses the vast and varied collection of Edwin Barlow, will be open Friday, June 19th, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A discounted admission price of $6.00 is also being offered for Friday visitors. The Chalet, a replica of Bernese Mountain Chalet, is on the State Register of Historical Places.
A guided tour of approximately 45 minutes is available, or guests may browse the collection at their own pace. Private appointments may also be available by calling the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce at 800-527-6838 or emailing NGGoldenfleece@gmail.com.
The collection is mostly European, and is filled with wonderful examples of “old world” craftsmanship. Woodcarvings, paintings, tapestry and furniture are displayed in every room. Jewelry, china, coins and other artifacts are also featured.
The oldest item in the Chalet is from 600 B.C., and the most recent are from the “modern” times of the 1950’s. The Chalet is also open Saturday, June 20th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a regular admission of $8.00, or $7.00 for senior citizens.
