Child Development Days in New Glarus

The New Glarus School District will be holding its 19th annual Child Development Days.
Child Development Days is a free event designed for families in our school district with children ages 6 months to 4 years. Families are provided with information about their child’s development, are able to visit a community resource room, and have an opportunity to interact with other parents. Over the years, hundreds of families have participated in this wonderful community event.
The school organizes the event along with several community agencies, such as the Lions Club, Green County Birth to 3 Program, and more.
Child Development Days will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
During your appointment, a staff member will be assigned to your child and will be available to answer questions you may have regarding development, behavior, or community resources. Your child will participate in a play-based developmental screening. This visit will provide ideas to encourage your child’s further growth and give your child an opportunity to become familiar with the “big school.”
Parents are invited to observe their child as well as visit the community resource room. Lions Club members will be available to provide vision screenings and the school nurse will be available for hearing screenings.
If your child’s birthday falls between 9/1/11 through 8/5/15 please make an appointment. Call Mrs. Buesser at (608) 527-2410 extension *1000. Appointments can be made Monday, January 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m. through Monday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m.
The visit should take approximately an hour. If you have specific concerns about your child’s development, please share these concerns when scheduling your appointment to be sure your child is able to interact with a school specialist.
If your child is eligible for 4K in the fall, which means your child will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2016, your child’s attendance is extremely important. This event serves as registration for 4K.
If you have participated in Child Development Days in the past, we hope to see you again. It is wonderful to watch your child grow each year. If this is your first time, we look forward to beginning an early partnership with your family.
