A new holiday event will be happening in New Glarus. The New Glarus Christkindli Market will make its first appearance in downtown New Glarus December 10-12, 2021! This outdoor Christmas market will host vendors offering a variety of high quality, locally made and sourced gifts, along with Christmas decorations and foods, all housed in wooden on-street chalets. Shop local and support small businesses, while enjoying holiday lights and music. Santa will be in his chalet at the Christkindli Market Friday through Sunday, and special appearances by Samichlaus and Schmutzli will occur. Free horse-drawn sleigh rides Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Live outdoor music performances and entertainment will be scattered throughout the weekend, and admission to the Market is free.
Market hours will be Friday, December 10th, from 4:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.; Saturday, December 11th, from 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, December 12th, from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
1st Street between 5th and 6th Avenues and 5th Avenue between Railroad Street and 2nd Street will be closed to traffic from Wednesday, December 8th through Tuesday, December 14th.
New Glarus Christkindli Market is put on by the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce, and made possible through generous donations from the New Glarus Brewing Company, Bank of New Glarus, Chalet Landhaus Inn & Restaurant, BNG Investment Services, Helvetia Systems, Jack Links, LSM Chiropractic, and New Glarus Retreats.
