CTSO Officers Attend College and Career Readiness Courses at New Glarus High School

College and Career Readiness is a district wide goal at New Glarus School District. The entire freshmen class, the class of 2022, are enrolled in a Dual Credit Course through Madison College called College and Career Readiness. This course focuses on a positive transition from Middle School to High School, how to be a productive High School student and how to succeed in life after high school. This course is taught by all three Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers and the High School Spanish teacher, Dan Ziegler, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Jacob Mihm, Technology and Engineering, Julie Martin, Family and Consumer Sciences and Matt Belknap, High School Spanish Teacher. Students are placed on a three-week rotation with each teacher.
The teachers want to encourage all freshmen students to become involved in something while in high school. To help encourage this philosophy each CTE department invited a State Officer from their respective Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) to speak to each student in the freshmen class.
Gaelan Combs, State FFA Sentinel, represented FFA, Brendan Franch, District 4 Vice-President, represented SkillsUSA, and Haiden Zimmerman, State FCCLA President, represented Family and Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and is also a current senior at New Glarus High School.
This experience was fantastic to have three different CTSOs represented at New Glarus High School. This collaborate effort between these three CTE disciplines was evident this day and was an opportunity to bring everyone together for a common goal.
