Exhibit of 6th Grade Map Drawings at Village Hall

An art opening to celebrate 'Mapping Our Community: Middle School Perspectives' will take place at Village Hall on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. The exhibit will showcase drawings created by 6th graders from New Glarus Middle School. The project, sponsored by the New Glarus Public Library, gave students an opportunity to learn more about their world. These investigations began in the social studies classroom with sketches of the New Glarus area and were further developed into finished map drawings in the art room. Students used colored pencils and ink to create their maps, revealing what the community looks like from individual perspectives.
The maps will be on extended exhibition and open to the public at the New Glarus Village Hall, starting on Wednesday, June 1st. A select number of the framed drawings will be displayed permanently on the walls of the new library building in the near future. View the artwork in an online gallery at https://www.youareherengpl.org.
The map project is made possible with a grant from the Anonymous II Fund of the New Glarus Community Fund of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin.
