Four Dead in Small Plane Crash

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on June 10th, the Green County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls advising that citizens had seen a plane in the sky lose altitude and crash.  The plane went down into an open field north of the Monroe Airport. It then crashed into a wooded area immediately north of the open field, and impacted with some trees.  Witnesses reported that the plane was on fire when it crashed.
The first responders on scene advised the plane was on fire and fully engulfed, and the Monroe Fire Department extinguished the flames.  Initial investigation revealed the pilot had filed a flight plan that listed four people on board; family members who were flying in from Kenosha to attend a graduation celebration.
On Monday, June 11th, Green County Coroner Jody Makos identified the deceased as pilot Colleen S. Deininger, 81, her daughter Melissa R. Deininger-Dickman, 53, and Colleen’s grandchildren, Emmarose M. Dickman, 17, and Alex M. Dickman, 13. All were residents of Kenosha.  There were no survivors. 
Responding to the scene were Green County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, Monroe, Juda, Monticello, Evansville and Brodhead Fire Departments, Green County EMS, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the National Transportation Safety Board.  This crash remains under investigation with the Sheriff’s Office, FAA and NTSB.
