It must be Easter - the German students are again in New Glarus. The GAPProgram that was started in 1987 continues in 2015. In 1987, the former German teacher, Linda Hiland, began the student exchange program with a high school in Bad Arolsen, located in the Wisconsin's sister state, Hesse, Germany. Her successor, Emily Zuleger, is continuing the tradition of bringing together students from both countries.
Nineteen students from Bad Arolsen and their chaperone, Bernd Radeck, are guests in New Glarus, having arrived on Saturday, April 4. The German guests will depart on Thursday, April 16th, spending two days in Chicago before heading to New York and then returning home. During their stay in New Glarus, they will enjoy time spent with their American families and learn about the education system at New Glarus High School. In addition, the group will take field trips to Madison (Capitol tour), Verona (Epic tour) and Milwaukee (Public Museum, Domes and Brewer Game). The American students will have a chance to learn about family and school life in Germany in June, when the New Glarus students will travel to Bad Arolsen.
