Green County Clean Sweep

The Green County Clean Sweep Program continues through October 31, 2017, at the Green County Landfill, W2002 County Road SS, Brodhead. The hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., and the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Green County Clean Sweep is a program to dispose of agricultural and household chemicals. Farmers can dispose of up to 200 pounds for free. Actual disposal costs may be charged for amounts over 200 pounds. Homeowners will be able to dispose of up to 50 pounds for free. Actual disposal costs may be charged for amounts over 50 pounds. A testing fee may be charged for unknown chemicals if amounts are greater than five gallons or 50 pounds. Participants with more than 50 pounds of household products or 200 pounds of agricultural products must pre-register by calling the Green County Landfill at (608) 897-8605 before bringing their materials. All items should be properly identified. Proof of Green County residency is required.
Items Accepted Include: Home products, insecticides, old fertilizer, weed and feed products, mercury, oil based marine, tractor, auto or lead paint, herbicides, fungicides, wood preservatives, low pressure pesticide gas cylinders, cadmium and lithium batteries, waste motor oil, antifreeze, small LP gas tanks.
Items NOT accepted include: Explosives – firearms or ammunition, radioactive materials, high pressure compressed gas cylinders, Freon 11 and 12, biological, infectious or medical waste, latex paint, fluorescent tubes.
The Landfill reserves the right to reject any item that does not meet the intent of the program. Materials will only be accepted by authorized personnel during normal business hours through October 31st. Funding for this program is limited and the program will be suspended when the annual allocated funds are depleted.
