Green County Master Gardeners Present 'Terrific Trees and Their Troubles' by Butch Whitney

The Green County Master Gardeners will be holding their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m., at the Green County Justice Center, Multi-Purpose Rooms. Meetings usually include speakers or tours for learning and are open to the public to attend.
Our speaker this month will be Butch Whitney, of Whitney Tree Service. Butch has been a second generation Arborist for the past 24 years. As part owner of the Whitney Tree Service LLC partnership, Butch has completed extensive training with the International Society of Arboriculture and is a Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist. He is also certified and licensed by the state of Wisconsin to perform work with environmentally safe treatment techniques for tree diseases and insect problems. Butch has done collaborative efforts with the WI DATCP, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, UW-Extension, and the entire Tree Care Industry.
The Green County Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association was formed in Green County in 2004 to provide Master Gardeners with opportunities for professional development and community service. This past year members of the association volunteered 265 hours of community education and 1,856 hours in community service projects in Green County. Master Gardener Volunteers also assist the UW-Extension Office in responding to horticulture questions and offered information through a column published in local newspapers.
The Green County Master Gardeners Association meets on the fourth Thursday of the month from February through October. Anyone interested in horticulture and gardening is welcome to join the association and you do not have to be a Master Gardener to be a member.
