Green County Relay For Life Event

On Saturday, June 24, 2017, hundreds of Green County residents will join together at the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Green County to help save more lives from cancer and to celebrate this year’s theme “Color Your World Without Cancer”. The event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., at the Brodhead High School track in Brodhead, WI. The entire community is invited to attend the event and celebrate with people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. Tami Jacobson will be introduced as the 2017 Honorary Survivor during the opening ceremony. The event schedule includes: 3:00 p.m., Survivor Reception Begins; 4:00 p.m., Opening Ceremony, Pastor Krystal Goodger - Opening Prayer, Brodhead Boy Scouts - Flag Raising, Josie Picard - National Anthem, Tami Jacobson - Honorary Survivor, Survivor Lap/Caregiver Lap, Food Stand open and Silent Auction begins; 4:30 p.m., Meet our Hospice Therapy Dogs, Walkers begin, Luminaria sales are open; 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Kids Games and Contests (Coloring Contest, Water Balloon Toss, and more); 5:30 p.m., Power of Purple Lap - wear purple! Show your purple color in support of all of our cancer Survivors!; 6:00 p.m., Frozen t-shirt contest; 6:30 p.m., Make some Noise Lap - Play instruments, sing, cheer, etc. Let’s let Brodhead know we’re fighting Cancer!; 7:00 p.m., New Hospice Home in Monroe! Presented by Zo Anne Anderson and Lisa Schweitzer; 7:15 p.m., Dessert Auction – Steve Benton, Auctioneer with a special auctioneer song; 8:00 p.m., Team Introductions and Lap; 8:30 p.m., Mismatch Rainbow Color Lap - Dress in your craziest, most colorful attire! Hint - the more colors the better!; 9:15 p.m., Luminaria Ceremony; 10:15 p.m., Team recognition laps - Team Recognition and 25 Year Survivor Teams; 10:45 p.m., Closing Ceremony.
Relay For Life events are community gatherings where teams and individuals camp out and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams participate in fundraising in the months leading up to the event. Dollars raised help the American Cancer Society save lives by funding groundbreaking cancer research, supporting education and risk reduction efforts, and providing free information and critical services for people with cancer who need them. In addition to the support of the community, Relay For Life of Green County is also supported by many businesses and organizations.
