Habitat for Humanity of Green County Spring/Summer Update

It has been exciting spring and early summer for Habitat for Humanity of Green County! Saturday June 6, 2015, we held our 2nd Annual Hike4Habitat Fundraising Event! Thank you to all participants and sponsors involved in this fun family event. Sponsors included Augsburger Law, Monroe Clinic, A1 & PDC, Colony Brands, and Heartland Graphics.
During the Hike4Habitat Event we held a competition between local churches to see which church could bring in the most donations and the winner of the event was Wiota Lutheran Church! The Wiota Lutheran Church group brought in over $1,000 in donations and had over 20 participants. The prize for winning the challenge was 20 hours of volunteer service provided by Habitat for Humanity of Green County. Wiota Lutheran Church has chosen their volunteer project to help share and gather information regarding invasive species at Yellowstone Lake.  The volunteer project involves handing out information at Yellowstone Lake to boaters regarding invasive species. There are many dates and time available throughout the summer so if you’re interested in helping to share this valuable information and hang out and the lake contact us at leah@greencountyhabitat.org or our newly updated website www.greencountyhabitat.org and more details can be provided! It’s a great opportunity for the entire family to be involved.
Also, the Habitat Resale Store is open! Since our grand opening on May 26th, we have had an amazing amount of donations brought into the store, including quality items such as new and used windows, doors, light fixtures, ceiling fans, all kinds of other various furniture and building items. You have to see it to believe it!  Stop down any Monday from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Thursday from 12:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., or Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. If you are doing a project of any size or type, don’t forget to come check out the Habitat Resale Store at 1001 30th Street Monroe, WI, or email store@greencountyhabitat.org or call (608) 328-2128 for a full list of items accepted and available for sale.
And don’t forget our Habitat Home Repair Project Program is continuing in the area with various volunteer opportunities! In August we will have at least two painting projects, which would be a great way to get involved in a weekend project! Contact us today for more details to be involved in our painting days as it’s a great opportunity for someone looking to get involved or group looking for a way to give back to the community!
A huge THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and sponsors/donors as we simply can’t do anything without your generous support! But, with so much happening we are always looking for more volunteers so check out our website for more information or contact Leah Hanson for an upcoming project list and to receive a volunteer registration form for the Habitat Resale Store!
