Knights Fall to Cardinals

The New Glarus boys basketball team hosted the 3-0 Marshall Cardinals on January 21st, hoping to stay undefeated in the Capitol South. The Knights were down by ten at the half, 33-23.
Marshall outscored New Glarus by only six points in the second half and took the win, with a final score of Marshall 75, New Glarus 59.
“We had a tough loss to Marshall tonight,” said Coach Travis Sysko. “They have a very good team and we knew needed to play one of our better games. I thought we did a good job of defending the paint tonight and getting to the free throw line. Unfortunately, we needed to knock some shots down from the 3-point line and couldn’t those to fall tonight.”
Gavin Binger put 16 points on the board for the Knights, with two assists and two steals. Jaden Kreklow scored 15 points, with one assist and two steals and Trey Taylor added 13 points, with four assists and one block.
Marshall’s leading scorers were Brandon Neuberger with 25 points, Tristan Killerlain chipped in 17 points and Jordon Gomez contributed 11 points.
The Knights traveled to Waterloo on January 26th and will host Belleville on January 29th.
