Knights Lose to Brodhead in Round 2 of Regionals

On Tuesday, October 22nd, the New Glarus volleyball team, who was seeded #9 for the regionals, traveled north to take on #8 seeded Deerfield in the first round of WIAA regional play. The Lady Knights won it in 5: 25-20; 18-25; 17-25; 25-21; 15-4.
Senior Lola Gillaspie had 9 kills and 4 blocks. Freshman Grace Nommensen had 3 blocks and 28 assists. Junior Alexah Mellenberger had 7 kills, sophomore Emma Marty had 3 blocks, sophomore Ellie Eichelkraut had 4 aces and senior Brooke Watrud had 8 digs.
The Lady Knights next traveled to Brodhead, who was seeded #1, on October 24th. The first two sets were close, however they couldn’t hold on in the third and their season ended. 18-25; 22-25; 8-25.
Alexah Mellenberger had 7 kills and 10 digs, Lola Gillaspie had 5 kills and 2 aces, Lily Himmelmann had 4 kills and 1 block, Grace Nommensen had 21 assists and 7 digs and senior libero Brooke Watrud had 7 digs.
